Bernard Arnault was reported wearing a unique Tiffany-blue Patek Philippe Nautilus Perpetual Calendar, identified as Ref. 5740. That identification came from watch specialist Monochrome’s January 22, 2022 report on photographs posted to Frédéric Arnault’s Instagram—not from a Patek Philippe announcement. The report could not establish whether the photographed watch’s case was white gold or stainless steel.
What is the watch in the photographs?
Monochrome identified the watch as a unique Tiffany-blue-dial Nautilus Ref. 5740 after examining photographs posted by Frédéric Arnault. The report describes an image-based identification; the cited Patek Philippe materials do not announce or authenticate this one-off watch. Monochrome’s January 22, 2022 report
The case material is not confirmed. Although the regular production Ref. 5740/1G-001 is made in white gold, that specification cannot be assumed for the reported unique watch.
How the reported 5740 differs from the official Tiffany anniversary Nautilus
The similarly colored watch often associated with Tiffany Blue is a separate, officially announced edition: the steel Nautilus Ref. 5711/1A-018, created for the 170th anniversary of the Patek Philippe–Tiffany & Co. partnership. Patek Philippe said the edition was limited to 170 watches, with availability through specified Tiffany boutiques and one watch designated for a Phillips charity auction. Patek Philippe described the anniversary release as a limited edition of Ref. 5711/1A-018 watches in steel with Tiffany Blue dials. Its press release also said each bracelet required 55 production steps for finishing; both the edition count and finishing figure refer to the 5711 anniversary watches, not the reported 5740.
What the regular Nautilus 5740 offers
Patek Philippe describes Ref. 5740/1G-001 as the Nautilus collection’s first Grand Complication, introduced in 2018. These are specifications for the standard production reference, not confirmed specifications for the unique watch in the photographs. Patek Philippe’s Ref. 5740/1G-001 product page

Does a Tiffany-signed 5740 prove the photographed watch’s provenance?
No. Christie’s records a separate circa-2021 production Ref. 5740/1G-001 retailed by Tiffany & Co., with a blue dial, white-gold case and a Tiffany-stamped Certificate of Origin. That record establishes the existence of a Tiffany-retailer-signed example of the standard reference; it does not show that the auction watch was Arnault’s photographed unique piece or establish that piece’s provenance or value. The available cited evidence does not establish a current valuation, whether the unique watch is for sale, or an independently verified ownership record. It supports a reported visual identification, not a confirmed sale or official special-edition status.
