Mark XV owners report at least two bracelet styles: an early “rice corn” design and a “pyramid” design. Neither a collector-cited reference nor a reported width proves that a bracelet will fit every Mark XV. Before paying, have IWC or an authorized retailer check your watch’s reference or serial number, then confirm the bracelet’s end links and completeness with the seller.
Which bracelet styles are reported for the Mark XV?
In an April 2015 IWC collectors forum discussion, a participant identified the early “rice corn” bracelet and said the “pyramid” version became available soon afterward. The participant described both as correct for the Mark XV. That is useful collector testimony, not an official IWC parts catalogue or a fitment chart for every watch.
Use the style names as search terms, not as proof of compatibility. The same discussion mentions bracelet reference IWA05514, but does not establish that it fits every Mark XV reference or generation. Read the collector discussion.
How do you check which bracelet fits your watch?
- Find your watch’s reference or serial number. Use the information on the watch and its documentation, if available.
- Check IWC’s strap-and-bracelet finder. Enter the reference or serial number to look for compatible options on IWC’s straps and bracelets page.
- Ask IWC or an authorized retailer to confirm the exact fit. IWC’s FAQ directs customers to a boutique or authorized retailer for metal-bracelet cleaning or replacement. This is the strongest available route for checking a specific watch; a forum post or listing alone cannot establish compatibility.
- Confirm the end links with the seller before paying. Ask for clear photos of the end links, their bracelet reference or markings, and the connection to the watch. A separate collector discussion reports a 19 mm Mark XV bracelet width, but that is a collector-reported measurement, not an official universal specification or proof of end-link interchangeability. Ask IWC or a qualified watch specialist to verify dimensions and fit for your watch. See the collector discussion reporting 19 mm.
What should you ask a seller?
Compare candidates by fit, style and condition rather than relying on the words “Mark XV” in a listing. Ask for enough detail to verify what is actually being offered:
#1 Best Overall

- Identity: Is it the rice-corn or pyramid style? What reference or markings are present, including whether the seller identifies it as IWA05514?
- End links and fit: Are the end links included, and can the seller provide clear photos of their shape and markings? Has this exact bracelet been fitted to a watch with your reference?
- Completeness: Does it include the clasp and all links currently available with the bracelet? Ask how many removable links are included.
- Condition: Request close-ups of the clasp, link sides and end links. Ask about stretch, repairs, replaced parts and any damage.
- Purchase protection: Is there a return period if IWC or a qualified specialist confirms that it will not fit? What evidence of origin can the seller provide?
These questions help you assess a listing; they do not authenticate a vintage bracelet. The cited discussions do not establish the authenticity of any seller’s item.
Should you remove or fit the bracelet yourself?
Do not choose a removal tool based only on the model name. A June 2026 discussion about a Mark XV reference 3253 describes one bracelet configuration using spring bars, while another participant’s initial release-mechanism advice concerned a different configuration. A participant later reported that a 1.2 mm spring-bar fork, turned parallel to the bar, helped with the spring-bar version. That is anecdotal guidance for that identified configuration, not a method for all Mark XV bracelets. Read the 3253 bracelet discussion.

IWC recommends professional strap changes, noting that the work requires training and special tools and that the case can be scratched during a do-it-yourself change. For bracelet replacement or removal, ask a boutique or authorized retailer rather than applying a tool or release method before the hardware has been identified. See IWC’s FAQ.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. What is not established about availability and price?
The available sources do not establish current original-parts stock, price, lead time, or the authenticity of any vintage listing. Ask IWC or an authorized retailer about the bracelet compatible with your watch’s reference or serial number. If you pursue a vintage example, make the seller’s documentation, end-link photos and return terms part of the purchase decision.
