Crashes, No Sound, or Screen Glitches?

If the phone does not show the call at all, check whether an LTE watch, call forwarding, or carrier number-sharing is delivering it separately.
Call your phone from another number while it is beside you. Whether the phone displays the incoming-call screen—and whether the watch rings at the same time or later—points to the right fix.
What does the test call tell you?
| What happens | Likely explanation | Where to start |
|---|---|---|
| The phone displays the call but makes no sound | Phone sound mode, ringtone volume, Do Not Disturb, a Mode or Routine, contact settings, or call-audio routing | Check phone sound settings first |
| The watch rings, but the phone shows no incoming-call screen | The watch may be receiving calls through LTE, forwarding, or carrier number-sharing; a phone or carrier connection issue is also possible | Check watch cellular service and call forwarding |
| The phone rings, stops, then the watch rings | Unanswered-call forwarding is a leading possibility | Check forwarding on the watch and phone |
| The watch handles calls only when near the phone | A Bluetooth connection may be required; remote calling depends on the watch, connection, and carrier | Check connection type and whether the watch has active LTE service |
A ringing watch proves that a call reached at least one device. It does not prove that the phone’s speaker was allowed to play a ringtone.
Make the phone ring again
Check sound mode and ringtone volume
- On the Galaxy phone, open Settings → Sounds and vibration.
- Select Sound rather than Vibrate or Mute.
- Tap Volume and raise the Ringtone slider. Media volume is separate, so turning up a video or music track may not change the ringtone.
- Place another test call.
Samsung lists sound mode and ringtone volume among the causes to check when a Galaxy phone does not audibly ring: Galaxy phone ringtone troubleshooting.

Temporarily turn off Do Not Disturb and sound-changing Modes
Temporarily disable Do Not Disturb and any active Sleep, Driving, Theater, Focus, or custom Mode or Routine that might silence calls. Test again. If the phone rings, inspect that feature’s schedule and exceptions instead of leaving it off; Do Not Disturb can allow selected contacts or repeat callers while silencing others. Samsung’s guidance covers calls that ring despite mute or vibrate settings.
Check whether the problem affects one caller
If only one person’s calls fail to ring—or behave differently—check that contact’s settings. Open Contacts, select the person, tap More → Change ringtone/vibration, and inspect the assigned ringtone and vibration options. Samsung documents a contact-level option that can let a contact ring even when the phone is set to Vibrate or Mute, so an individual setting may produce behavior that seems inconsistent with the phone-wide mode.

Check blocked callers and phone forwarding
A blocked number will not behave like a normal incoming call. If the phone does not show the test call, also check the Phone app’s blocked-number list and call-forwarding settings. The location may be under Phone app → Settings → Calling accounts or Call forwarding; labels and availability depend on the phone and carrier.
Check the watch’s call alerts and Bluetooth connection
Choose whether the watch receives incoming-call alerts
Incoming-call alerts on the watch are a separate control from the phone’s ringtone. In Galaxy Wearable → Watch settings → Notifications → App notifications, check the incoming-call and missed-call notification controls and set them as you want. Turning off a watch alert can stop the watch from notifying you; it does not restore a phone ringtone suppressed by Mute, low volume, or Do Not Disturb. Samsung notes that menu names may vary: Galaxy Watch call and text troubleshooting.

Understand the Bluetooth Calls switch
On the phone, open Settings → Connections → Bluetooth, tap the settings icon beside the Galaxy Watch, and inspect Calls. Samsung identifies this switch as the control for using the watch to make or answer calls: make and answer calls on a Samsung smart watch.
Enabling Calls makes the watch available as a Bluetooth call device; it does not necessarily silence the phone’s speaker. If the phone shows the incoming-call screen but stays silent, return to sound mode, ringtone volume, and Do Not Disturb settings. If you are diagnosing unexpected call routing, you can temporarily turn Calls off and test, then turn it back on if you want to answer calls using the watch. Disabling it may remove that watch-based call option.

Confirm the connection type
A Bluetooth-connected watch paired through Galaxy Wearable is the primary path for mirroring phone calls and answering them on the watch. A watch connected remotely over Wi-Fi or mobile data is not equivalent: Samsung warns that incoming phone calls may not arrive over a remote connection. Remote notification behavior can depend on the watch, phone, software, and setup.
A watch may also vibrate rather than play an audible ringtone. Check its own silent modes, including Do Not Disturb, Goodnight, and Theater mode, if the watch’s screen or sound behavior seems unusual.

Tell phone-call mirroring from LTE calling and forwarding
Bluetooth call mirroring
When the watch is connected to the phone over Bluetooth, it can show and answer calls from that phone. This is not the same as the watch receiving a separate cellular call. Samsung says Bluetooth call features require the watch to be connected to the phone through Bluetooth and Galaxy Wearable; a remote Wi-Fi connection may not deliver incoming calls. See Samsung’s watch calling guidance.
Standalone calls on an LTE watch
An LTE Galaxy Watch with active, supported cellular service can make and receive calls away from the phone. Samsung’s July 8, 2026 guidance identifies LTE versions of the Galaxy Watch8, Galaxy Watch8 Classic, and Galaxy Watch Ultra as supporting standalone calling, subject to carrier and regional support: Samsung’s LTE watch calling information. An LTE watch may therefore receive a call independently rather than merely mirror the phone’s call. Check whether the watch has its own number or a carrier number-sharing service, and confirm the service is active.
Not every Galaxy Watch can call independently. Samsung says calling and messaging on a non-LTE watch generally depend on a Bluetooth connection to a Galaxy phone, while LTE functionality requires an LTE model and active network service. Features also vary when pairing with a non-Samsung Android phone. See Samsung’s Galaxy Watch and phone compatibility guidance and Samsung’s phone compatibility information.
Check call forwarding
If the watch begins ringing only after the phone stops, unanswered-call forwarding is a strong suspect. Google’s Wear OS instructions describe this timing pattern and give the watch path Settings → Connectivity → Cellular → Call forwarding, where available. Check forwarding on the phone as well, since the control and options depend on the carrier. Google notes that carrier support varies, including a Verizon limitation for calls outside Bluetooth range: Wear OS calling and call forwarding.
- Call the phone from another number and do not answer.
- Let the phone ring until it stops.
- Watch for the watch to begin ringing afterward.
- If it does, inspect and test the phone’s and watch’s call-forwarding settings; contact the carrier if the setting is unavailable or the behavior continues.
If settings look right, reconnect before resetting
- Restart both the phone and watch.
- Confirm Bluetooth is enabled, then open Galaxy Wearable and check that the watch shows as connected.
- Install any pending phone, watch, and Galaxy Wearable updates.
- For a routing test, disconnect other Bluetooth audio devices temporarily and place another call.
- If the watch is still not pairing or receiving calls correctly, unpair and pair it again through Galaxy Wearable rather than only through the phone’s Bluetooth menu.
- Contact the carrier about LTE activation, number sharing, or forwarding problems. For watch pairing and software issues, use Samsung Wearable support or Samsung Members.
Keep a factory reset as a last resort after backing up and getting support guidance: it erases watch data and may not address a phone ringtone suppressed by a sound setting or call forwarding. Google warns that resetting a cellular watch erases its data: Wear OS cellular-watch troubleshooting and reset guidance.
