Withings introduced the BodyScan 2 at CES 2026 and received a CES 2026 Innovation Award. The company calls it a “longevity station”—a marketing term rather than an established medical category.
Withings says a scan takes about 90 seconds and produces more than 60 biomarkers, biosignals, and derived insights. The scale has a built-in handle with a 3.2-inch color display and uses improved multi-frequency Bioimpedance Spectroscopy for six-zone body-composition analysis.

That “60-plus” figure should not be read as 60 separate clinical measurements. The total includes direct measurements, estimates, indices, risk notifications, and algorithmic interpretations.

The CES wording can make BodyScan 2 sound like a blood-pressure monitor. The current US explanation is narrower. BodyScan 2 collects data during repeated uses, then analyzes patterns that may be associated with blood-pressure concerns. Withings recommends using it at least twice a week so the system has enough longitudinal data.

If the algorithm identifies a notable pattern, the Withings app may issue a Blood Pressure Insights Notification. That notification is a prompt to investigate—not a blood-pressure result.

Withings’ European material describes Hypertension Notification as software that analyzes demographic, anthropometric, and physiological data collected opportunistically by Withings devices. Its UK information said the feature was not yet authorized for use in the UK and Switzerland at the stated rollout. US, European, and UK descriptions should therefore not be treated as interchangeable.
The company also says some features depend on software updates. The fact that a feature appears in launch material does not guarantee identical availability in every country, app version, or account.

What AI is—and is not—doing
Withings uses “AI-powered” language for trend analysis, coaching, health-assistant interactions, and risk or longevity scores. The available product information does not disclose the model architecture, training data, or independent sensitivity and specificity results for BodyScan 2’s hypertension algorithm.
That means AI here should be understood as algorithmic interpretation of personal health data, not autonomous clinical diagnosis. Marketing terms such as “AI-powered,” “clinically validated,” and “medical-grade” describe different things and should not be treated as synonyms.

Bioimpedance results can change with hydration, food and alcohol intake, exercise, skin temperature, time of day, foot placement, handle contact, recent bathroom use, and menstrual-cycle-related fluid changes.
For useful trends, measure under similar conditions and focus on changes over time rather than reacting to one reading. A polished six-zone report is still an estimate, and the number of displayed metrics does not eliminate normal measurement variability.

Withings BodyScan 2 is an ambitious health-data platform, not a cuff disguised as a scale. Its combination of six-zone composition, ECG, AFib analysis, cardiovascular indicators, oxygen saturation, and software interpretation may justify the premium for users who want a broad Withings ecosystem.
But the hypertension headline needs careful translation. In the US, BodyScan 2 provides a pattern-based notification rather than a blood-pressure measurement or diagnosis. Buy it for longitudinal health tracking if that broader package—and possibly Withings+—is valuable to you. Buy a validated upper-arm cuff if what you actually need is blood-pressure monitoring.
