Xiaomi’s newer Mijia Smart Audio Glasses bring open-ear audio, calls and recording to a lightweight glasses frame. But the “ultrasonic speaker” label is confirmed for Xiaomi’s earlier Smart Audio Glasses—not the newer Mijia model’s international specifications. The newer generation launched in China as MIJIA Smart Audio Glasses 2 and is sold internationally as Mijia Smart Audio Glasses.
Which Xiaomi glasses launched?
The product at the center of the newer launch is the second-generation model. In China it is called MIJIA Smart Audio Glasses 2; Xiaomi’s international product pages call it Mijia Smart Audio Glasses. Xiaomi’s global comparison page lists it separately from the earlier Xiaomi Smart Audio Glasses, so the names should not be treated as interchangeable.
Chinese coverage reported a 999-yuan crowdfunding price in March 2025 and a standard retail price of 1,199 yuan. Retail availability in China began in April 2025. Xiaomi later announced Japanese sales from January 15, 2026. Regional stock and configurations vary; a product page for one country does not establish availability or warranty coverage elsewhere. Are the new Mijia glasses’ speakers ultrasonic?
The confirmed ultrasonic-speaker specification belongs to the earlier Xiaomi Smart Audio Glasses. Xiaomi’s Singapore page identifies an SLS0820 ultrasonic speaker and a sound-cavity algorithm for that model. Xiaomi’s current global page describes the newer Mijia glasses as open-ear audio and discusses acoustic optimization and leakage reduction, but does not identify their speaker as ultrasonic. “Ultrasonic speaker” here is Xiaomi’s description of a component in the earlier glasses; it does not mean that the listening content is inaudible ultrasound. Both generations are Bluetooth open-ear audio products: sound is directed near the ears while the ear canals remain uncovered. That can help you hear your surroundings, but it does not isolate music like sealed earbuds, and nearby people may hear some playback.
What are the newer Mijia glasses’ specifications?
The figures below are Xiaomi’s stated specifications for the newer international model, not independent test results. Weight is listed without lenses. Battery and charging figures can vary with volume, codec, software, environment, lens configuration and use.

Xiaomi gives battery figures under its stated test conditions: a fully charged battery, 50% volume and AAC codec mode. They are not guaranteed runtimes for every listener or configuration. The up-to-4.5 m/s wind figure is a Xiaomi microphone and noise-reduction claim, not an independently verified performance guarantee.

For comparison, Xiaomi’s global product page lists the earlier Xiaomi Smart Audio Glasses at 33.4 g without lenses, with Bluetooth 5.2, two microphones, up to 10 hours of playback, up to 7 hours of calls and about two hours to charge. The newer model adds listed recording and dual-device connectivity. These are manufacturer specifications rather than results from a side-by-side test.
How do audio, calls and privacy mode work?
The newer model keeps the ears uncovered and places its audio hardware in the temples. Xiaomi says it uses a reverse sound field and a leakage-reducing membrane, and offers a privacy mode. Those features are intended to reduce sound escaping toward people nearby; they are not a guarantee that playback cannot be heard. Xiaomi also describes four-microphone noise reduction for calls, but the published claims do not establish how clearly calls perform in every noisy or windy setting.
Open-ear glasses are most naturally suited to spoken audio, navigation and calls when you want to stay aware of surrounding sounds. They are a less direct fit if your priority is noise isolation or powerful bass. The verified specifications describe audio, microphones, controls and recording—not a camera or display—so these are not display-based AR glasses.

What does recording require, and what about consent?
The Xiaomi Glasses app is used to make and manage recordings and to configure features such as gestures, connected devices and privacy mode. Xiaomi says the glasses can record surrounding sound, online meetings, calls, and audio or video playback. A recording indicator light turns on during recording, and files are managed through the app rather than as ordinary standalone voice-recorder files.
Recording laws and consent requirements differ by jurisdiction and situation. The indicator is a disclosure feature, not a substitute for obtaining consent where required. Xiaomi’s product page also cautions users to follow local privacy and recording laws. App availability, languages, account requirements and feature behavior may differ by region.

Prices are region-specific; the cited figures should not be read as a U.S. price. Xiaomi Japan announced a January 15, 2026 release with suggested tax-included prices of ¥26,980 for Brow / Metal Pilot and ¥31,980 for Deep Titanium. The available product information does not establish official U.S. retail pricing or U.S. sales availability. If you are considering an import, check the exact model and region, Xiaomi Glasses app access, language and firmware support, warranty and repair coverage, and access to replacement frames before buying. Xiaomi notes that availability can vary by region. Regional product pages include Singapore, the United Kingdom and Indonesia; a listing alone does not guarantee local stock or identical service.
What should glasses wearers check before buying?
- Fit and lens weight: Xiaomi’s 27.6 g figure excludes lenses. Prescription lenses add weight, and universal prescription compatibility is not established. Confirm fitting options and warranty terms with a local retailer or optician.
- Frame differences: Pilot-Style versions include HD TAC polarized lenses, which Xiaomi says block more than 99.9% of UV light. Browline and Titanium offer blue-light-filtering lens options. Xiaomi says the Titanium frame uses a unibody β-titanium design and does not support quick release.
- Durability: Xiaomi reports that the piano-wire hinge was tested for 15,000 flexes and the second-generation quick-release hinge for 2,000 plug-and-pull cycles. These are manufacturer test claims, not a guarantee of service life. IP54 means dust and splash resistance, not waterproofing; Xiaomi says the glasses are not intended for underwater use or humid environments.
- App dependence: Recording management and several settings require the Xiaomi Glasses app. Check that it and the features you need are available for your phone and region.
Who are the Mijia Smart Audio Glasses for?
They may suit people who want calls, podcasts, audiobooks or navigation without inserting earbuds, and who like the look and fit of a conventional glasses frame. Recording and dual-device connectivity add flexibility for people who will use those features and can access the companion app.
They are a weaker match for listeners who need strong isolation or bass, for swimming or wet-weather use, or for anyone seeking camera, display or medical hearing-aid functions. Buyers importing them without confirmed local app access, warranty, repair service or prescription-lens support also take on practical uncertainties.
