The Zenith x Time+Tide Defy Skyline Skeleton Night Surfer El Primero is a 200-piece 2023 collaboration built around a 41 mm microblasted titanium case, an openworked blue-gradient dial and the high-frequency El Primero 3620. Its defining display is a 1/10-second indicator at 6 o’clock, driven directly by the escapement. Its reference is 97.9300.3620/79.I001. Published power-reserve figures differ: Zenith says approximately 60 hours, while Time+Tide lists 55 hours.
What is the Zenith Night Surfer El Primero?
Announced in Dubai on 15 November 2023, this is the second Night Surfer collaboration between Zenith and Australian watch publisher Time+Tide. It develops the design of the 2021 DEFY Classic Skeleton Night Surfer, but uses the Defy Skyline Skeleton platform and an El Primero movement. Zenith limited the 2023 edition to 200 pieces; that count is distinct from the 2021 model’s 100-piece run. Zenith’s announcement
What are the reference and dimensions?
The reference is 97.9300.3620/79.I001. Time+Tide lists a 41 mm case diameter, 11.6 mm thickness and 46.3 mm lug-to-lug measurement. The case, dodecagonal bezel and integrated bracelet are microblasted titanium. Time+Tide’s launch specifications
How does the design and strap system work?
The dial is openworked, with a metallic blue gradient that darkens from bottom to top. A four-pointed star is formed by the blue bridges and main plate of the skeletonized movement, with luminous lines tracing the motif. At 6 o’clock, a running indicator completes one revolution every ten seconds, showing tenths of a second. Zenith says the 5 Hz movement lets the indicator be driven directly by the escapement.

- Zenith DEFY Classic Automatic Blue Skeleton Dial Men's Watch 49.9003.670/51.R793
The watch comes on the integrated titanium bracelet and includes a blue rubber strap that Zenith says can be changed without tools. Time+Tide specifies a butterfly clasp for the bracelet and a folding pin buckle for the rubber strap. The front and back use flat sapphire crystals, according to Time+Tide.
What movement does it use, and what is the power reserve?
Zenith identifies the automatic calibre as El Primero 3620, beating at 5 Hz, or 36,000 vibrations per hour. It has bidirectional winding and a blue star-shaped rotor. Time+Tide calls its version El Primero 3620 SK and specifies a silicon escapement. Zenith’s movement description Time+Tide’s technical table
The power-reserve figures in those two 2023 publications do not match: Zenith states approximately 60 hours, while Time+Tide lists 55 hours. Neither source reconciles the difference, so the published specifications should be treated as discrepant rather than combined into a single definitive figure.
Water resistance and wearability
Zenith gives the watch a 10 ATM (100 m) water-resistance rating and a screw-down crown. The case is angular, with an integrated bracelet; the separately included rubber strap provides another wear option without requiring tools for the switch, according to the launch announcement. A water-resistance rating is a stated specification, not a guarantee that a particular used watch remains sealed: condition and service history matter when assessing an individual example.

What to check when considering one now
- Match the listing to reference 97.9300.3620/79.I001 rather than relying on the Night Surfer name alone.
- Confirm whether the titanium bracelet and blue rubber strap are both included, and check the condition of their respective clasps.
- Ask for the watch’s condition and service documentation; the published water-resistance rating does not establish the present condition of an individual example.
- Compare any asking price with current, verifiable listings. The published launch figures do not establish today’s market price.
How the collaborators describe the 1/10-second display
Time+Tide founder Andrew McUtchen called the counter “the proof that you have a truly high performance machine on your wrist, wherever you take it; in the water, or out.” That is his promotional characterization of the display, not an independent performance test.
