Time+Tide’s 2024 coverage reports a 40 mm steel case for the lapis model and a black DLC-coated steel case for the malachite, along with matching core specifications including a 200 m water-resistance rating and automatic STP1-21 movement. The reported prices—US$2,095 and US$2,295—were launch prices, not verified current offers.
Which Zodiac Super Sea Wolf stone-dial models are there?
Time+Tide identified two stone-dial variants in its October 28, 2024 coverage: a blue lapis lazuli version and a green malachite version. The natural stone gives each dial its own pattern, so individual watches should not be expected to have identical markings.
- Lapis lazuli: blue stone dial with a stainless-steel case.
- Malachite: green stone dial with a DLC-coated stainless-steel case.
The case-treatment distinction matters when comparing appearance: the malachite model is reported with a dark coating, while the lapis version retains a stainless-steel finish. The coverage does not establish that either watch reproduces a historic Zodiac stone-dial model.
How do lapis lazuli and malachite compare?
| Detail | Lapis lazuli | Malachite |
|---|---|---|
| Dial | Blue lapis lazuli | Green malachite |
| Reported case treatment | Stainless steel | DLC-coated stainless steel |
| Reported launch price | US$2,095, as reported by Time+Tide in 2024 | US$2,295, as reported by Time+Tide in 2024 |
The launch-price figures are historical reporting, not present-day prices. Current pricing, stock and production status are not established by the available sources.
What are the reported specifications?
Time+Tide’s 2024 report gives the stone-dial models these specifications:
| Specification | Reported detail |
|---|---|
| Case diameter | 40 mm |
| Case thickness | 14 mm |
| Lug-to-lug | 49 mm |
| Lug width | 20 mm |
| Crystal | Sapphire |
| Crown | Screw-down |
| Water resistance | 200 m |
| Movement | Automatic STP1-21 |
| Power reserve | 40 hours |
These are reported model specifications, not results of independent testing. A 40 mm diameter is only one part of fit: the reported 49 mm lug-to-lug measurement and 14 mm thickness also affect how the watch sits on a wrist. Trying it on is the most reliable way to judge comfort and proportions.

Are these specifications the same as the current Super Sea Wolf Core?
No. Zodiac’s current Super Sea Wolf Core page describes a distinct Core presentation, listing an STP 1-11 automatic movement, 20 ATM water resistance, DLC coating, a ceramic bezel insert and a sandblasted finish. Those details should not be substituted for the stone-dial models’ reported STP1-21 movement and 200 m rating. The Core page does not, by itself, confirm current availability or specifications for the stone-dial references.
Can you change the bracelet or strap?
The reported 20 mm lug width gives the stone-dial watches a plausible route to other 20 mm straps or bracelets, but fit should be confirmed for the exact reference and accessory before buying. Zodiac says its five-link bracelet fits Super Sea Wolf watches with 20 mm lugs; that general compatibility statement does not verify every stone-dial reference individually.

What is the collection’s place in Zodiac history?
Zodiac’s official brand history dates the Sea Wolf’s launch to the 1953 Basel Watch Fair. That provides context for the broader dive-watch line, but it is not evidence that these stone-dial watches are reissues of an earlier stone-dial Sea Wolf.
