The Outlaw Dark Side is a variant in Akrone’s earlier K-05 chronograph family. Akrone’s historical account places the K-05 among its collections using high-end ETA calibres. Independent 2019 coverage identifies the Dark Side by its black-smoke-finish dial and DLC-coated case option. Monochrome Watches describes the Outlaw as the anthracite-dial K-05 variant.
These details come from historical reporting, not a recovered original technical sheet for the Outlaw Dark Side. They are useful for identifying the watch, but should not be treated as a complete specification.
Movement and reported specifications
A 2019 independent report describes the K-05 as an automatic chronograph powered by an ETA 2894-2 movement, in a 41 mm stainless-steel case. It reports the Outlaw Dark Side option with a DLC-coated case and black-smoke dial. Monochrome Watches also reports an ETA 2894-2 modular chronograph movement for the Outlaw variant.

Is Akrone a French watchmaker?
Akrone says it was founded in Nantes in 2015 by Jean-François Kerboul and Erwan Kerneur. The company says its watches are designed and assembled, regulated, inspected and serviced in its Nantes workshop. It also says movements vary by model and may be Swiss, French or Japanese, while other components come from specialist partners in Europe and Asia.

In Akrone’s own FAQ wording: “Our watches are designed, assembled, regulated, inspected and serviced in Nantes, but not all of their components are necessarily manufactured in France.” That distinction matters: the watchmaker is French and undertakes substantial work in Nantes, but the brand does not claim every component is made in France.
Is the K-05 Outlaw Dark Side still available?
Current official availability could not be confirmed. Akrone says its catalog evolves as collections change and that availability is shown on each product page; its current homepage material promotes newer models rather than listing the K-05 Outlaw Dark Side. Akrone says watches are sold exclusively through akrone.fr, so check the current catalog or contact the brand for an up-to-date answer.

Akrone does not publish an official valuation guide for discontinued collections. It says resale value depends on the model, condition, age, service history and supply and demand. For a pre-owned example, request the original invoice and warranty card, and assess the watch’s condition and service documentation rather than relying on an unsupported model-wide price estimate.
Straps and fit
Akrone’s current FAQ gives a standard 20 mm lug width and says nylon, leather and FKM straps without end links can be used across its K and C collections. Before buying a replacement, confirm the actual lug width and attachment style on the specific watch, particularly if it has been modified. This is general compatibility guidance, not confirmation of a particular third-party strap’s fit.

Warranty, servicing and maintenance
Akrone says its watches have a three-year warranty covering parts and labour, subject to exclusions. Its listed exclusions include straps and bracelets, normal wear to surface treatments, natural ageing, and damage caused by improper use. Warranty benefits granted to the original buyer are not necessarily transferable with a resale, so check the watch’s paperwork and ask Akrone about the terms that apply to its current owner.
Akrone’s Nantes workshop handles after-sales service. Its FAQ says routine maintenance after the warranty period can also be entrusted to a qualified local watchmaker. For mechanical watches generally, Akrone recommends timing-machine checks every two to three years and says a complete service may be recommended from around five years, depending on use. These are general company recommendations, not a K-05-specific service schedule. The FAQ’s water-resistance testing recommendation applies to diving models and does not establish the K-05’s water rating.

What to check before buying a pre-owned example
- Confirm that the dial and case finish match the Outlaw Dark Side variant described in the historical coverage.
- Ask for clear photographs, the original invoice and warranty card, if available.
- Request service records and ask when the watch was last checked or serviced.
- Have a qualified watchmaker inspect the chronograph functions and overall condition before purchase.
- Do not assume a water-resistance rating or rely on a seller’s specification unless it is supported by model documentation or a current test.
