If your Amazfit watch is draining quickly or missing alerts after an update, troubleshoot the symptom rather than assuming the update caused it. Check display and health-monitoring settings for battery drain; for notifications, confirm the phone receives the alert, Zepp has the right permissions, Bluetooth is connected, and background operation is allowed. Updates are generally managed through the Zepp app, but menus and preparation requirements vary by model.
First, identify what failed
An update that will not install is different from a watch that updates successfully and then develops a problem. Battery use and phone-notification delivery are also separate issues, so work through the relevant path below rather than treating every symptom as evidence of a faulty update. Amazfit’s support guidance offers troubleshooting steps, but does not establish that a particular update caused an individual watch’s battery or notification problem.

- Battery drains unusually fast: reduce display and automatic-monitoring activity, then use the controlled observation procedure if needed.
- Notifications do not arrive: check the phone notification, Zepp settings and permissions, Bluetooth, and background access.
When seeking support, note your exact watch model, phone model, phone operating-system version, Zepp version, firmware version, and when the issue began. Menu names can change between models and software versions.

Amazfit says updates are typically delivered through the Zepp app. Connect the watch to the phone, open the watch’s device page in Zepp, and check for an update notification. Follow the instructions for your particular model. Amazfit’s general FAQ describes the app-based update approach.

Use the preparation instructions for your model
The route and battery requirement are not necessarily the same across watches. For example, the Amazfit Active 3 Premium update instructions give the path Zepp app > Device page > General > System Update and say to keep the battery above 50% during the update. That is guidance for that model, not a universal threshold for every Amazfit watch.
Preparation advice can differ on older model-specific support pages. The GTS 2 Mini troubleshooting guidance says to fully charge the watch or ensure it has at least 10% battery remaining during an upgrade. Follow the instructions for your own watch rather than applying one model’s battery figure to another.

If an update fails to install
For the GTS 2 Mini, Amazfit recommends signing out of Zepp and back in, or reinstalling Zepp and reconnecting the watch. Its guidance also says to keep the phone screen on during the upgrade and avoid other phone activity. On Android, it suggests clearing Bluetooth Share data and app caches, then rebooting the phone. These steps are model-specific support advice; menu paths for clearing data vary by phone.

Fix fast battery drain
Start with features that keep the screen active or increase automatic monitoring. The exact controls and labels depend on the watch model. Amazfit’s battery troubleshooting guide suggests trying these changes:

- Set lift-to-wake response to Normal.
- Turn off Always-On Display.
- Disable sleep breathing quality monitoring and automatic stress and blood-oxygen monitoring.
- Reduce screen-on duration to five seconds.
- Avoid choosing a wake-up mode for offline voice control.
Change only settings available on your model. If one change improves battery life, you can decide whether that feature is worth re-enabling; there is no need to disable every function permanently.
Use Amazfit’s controlled observation procedure if drain continues
Amazfit recommends isolating the watch from routine use to observe whether battery drain persists under reduced activity. This is manufacturer guidance, not an independently performed test or a guaranteed diagnosis.

- Restart the watch and fully charge it.
- Disconnect it from the phone.
- Enable Do Not Disturb, set brightness low, and use a default watch face.
- Turn off Bluetooth, Always-On Display, alarms, and automatic health monitoring.
- Leave the watch untouched for 24 hours and observe the battery level.
If the problem remains, Amazfit suggests a factory reset. Its guidance also says to remove the watch from both the phone’s Bluetooth settings and Zepp before pairing it again. A reset and re-pairing are more disruptive than changing settings, so reserve them for persistent problems and follow the instructions for your model.
Fix missing notifications
Amazfit watches mirror notifications from the phone; they do not independently deliver the phone’s app alerts. Start with the phone, then check Zepp and the connection. Amazfit’s notification guidance recommends checking that the alert appears in the phone’s notification bar, enabling App Alerts or App Notifications in Zepp, granting notification access, and selecting the apps you want on the watch. The app list may not populate until an app has generated a notification.

- Confirm the phone itself receives the notification.
- Make sure the watch is connected to the phone over Bluetooth.
- In Zepp, enable app alerts, grant the requested notification access, and select the apps.
- Check that Do Not Disturb is off on the watch.
- Allow Zepp to run in the background rather than being suspended by phone power management.
On Android
Phone manufacturers place background and battery controls in different locations, so there is no single Android menu path that applies to every device. Check Zepp’s background-permission prompts and your phone’s battery-optimization and auto-start controls. Amazfit notes that power management can suspend Zepp and disconnect the watch; its Android notification guidance explains the relevant checks.
If the problem remains on a T-Rex 3, Amazfit’s T-Rex 3 notification guide says to send feedback with a detailed description, screenshots, and app and device logs.
On iPhone
Confirm Bluetooth is connected. For iOS 13 and later, Amazfit’s guidance says to check Share System Notifications for the paired watch, allow notifications in iOS, and enable the desired apps in Zepp. See the iPhone notification guidance for the model-specific steps.
If only one app is affected, check that app’s iPhone notification settings and whether it is open in the foreground. Amazfit also suggests toggling Bluetooth and notification settings, then restarting the phone and watch.
When to contact Amazfit support
If the model-specific steps do not resolve the issue, contact Amazfit support with details that help distinguish an update failure from a later symptom:
