The company also offers a distinct Model 1 Porcelain, and the two versions differ in dial material, movement choices and how customers order them. This is a researched buying overview based on anOrdain’s published product information and FAQ—not a hands-on assessment of timekeeping, comfort or long-term durability.
What makes anOrdain watches distinctive?
anOrdain describes itself as a Glasgow watchmaker. Its collection includes Models 1, 2 and 3; the Model 1 is the clearest place to compare the brand’s enamel and porcelain dial approaches.
Model 1 Enamel
The Model 1 Enamel uses vitreous enamel on a copper dial, with a design language inspired by cartographic maps of the Scottish Highlands. anOrdain says its in-house enamellers handle each dial by hand, from preparing the copper blank through printing. The company states that a dial takes at least 12 hours to complete; that is an undated brand claim, not an independently measured production statistic. Its product page describes thermally treated steel hands.
Model 1 Porcelain
The Porcelain has a white glazed porcelain dial rather than enamel on copper. anOrdain describes its off-white glaze as specially formulated and high-fired, and says porcelain artist Cara Louise makes each dial in-house using hand tools and traditional processes, from mould-making through firing. These are the company’s descriptions of its own production.

How does buying an anOrdain watch work?
Enamel: reserve a production slot
For enamel watches, anOrdain describes a reservation system tied to a production slot rather than to a specific model. The FAQ says the reservation fee is non-refundable and is credited toward the final price. As the slot approaches, the customer chooses the model and personalization. The Oxblood page’s displayed £350 plus VAT fee is a snapshot, so confirm the amount and terms before paying.

Availability and estimates can change; verify the live page before making plans. anOrdain’s homepage also describes Model 1 Fumé as handmade to order with a waiting list, while the FAQ notes immediate-purchase availability for select non-enamel offerings. Availability is model-specific, not a single rule for the entire brand.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Which Model 1 size and strap should you choose?
Use both case diameter and lug-to-lug length when comparing the published Model 1 dimensions with a watch that fits you. Diameter alone does not describe how far the case spans across the wrist. anOrdain recommends measuring your wrist and consulting its fitting guide; its straps are offered in different materials and lengths.

What do the water-resistance rating and warranty tell you?
The product pages list 5 ATM water resistance and a five-year warranty for both Model 1 versions. These are published specifications, not results from an independent test. The pages alone do not establish whether a particular water activity is suitable or what the warranty covers. Check anOrdain’s current guidance and the applicable warranty policy, including its exclusions and territory, before relying on either for a specific use.

What this review can—and cannot—establish
The official pages explain the dial materials, listed sizes, movement options, ordering routes and published ownership specifications. They do not establish independent real-world timekeeping, scratch resistance, comfort, consistency across multiple watches, customer-service quality, repair intervals or resale value. Those points should remain open questions rather than being inferred from the company’s craftsmanship descriptions.
