It is an automatic watch with a 46 mm case, offered in stainless steel or recycled titanium. Its distinctive design comes with practical points to weigh before buying: the case is substantial by its listed dimensions, water resistance is rated at 3 ATM, and the price and warranty terms can vary by region and seller.
A globe dial with an unusual way to show the time
The Atlantic edition’s dial depicts the ocean and nearby continents in engraved topography, with blue treatment for the water, luminous markers and a compass-style hand. CIGA Design’s tagline for the watch is “The Atlantic Lives Within.” The dial is the main visual point of difference: rather than using a familiar arrangement of hands over a fixed set of hour markers, the watch pairs a stationary hour dial with a moving minute dial.
According to CIGA Design, the hour hand travels through a 30-degree arc while the minute dial makes a 390-degree rotation. That is the manufacturer’s description of its asynchronous-follow display; it is not a conventional hour-and-minute hand layout, so allow time to understand how to read it before choosing the watch for everyday use.
How the dial is made, according to CIGA
CIGA Design says each Earth dial passes through four processes over 68 hours. The brand describes an initial engraving with a 0.07 mm cutting head operating at 20,000 RPM for 18 hours, followed by another engraving using a 0.05 mm cutting head at 20,000 RPM for six hours. These are the manufacturer’s published process figures, not independently verified measurements.

CIGA notes that its dimensions are measured manually and may differ slightly. At 46 mm across and 17.05 mm thick, this is a large, thick watch by its published measurements. If fit is a concern, compare the dimensions with a watch you already wear or try the Atlantic on in person where possible; dimensions alone do not establish how it will sit or feel on your wrist.

Check strap compatibility before replacing it
CIGA lists a 22 mm strap width, while Fratello Watches’ launch coverage describes the strap as 22/20 mm. That difference may reflect the width at the attachment and buckle ends. Before ordering a replacement, confirm both measurements and the attachment style with the seller or manufacturer.
What 3 ATM does—and does not—establish
The official specification is 3 ATM. Treat that as the stated rating, not as a guarantee that the watch is suitable for swimming, diving or another particular water activity. If you need a watch for water use, ask the seller or CIGA Design for guidance specific to this model and your intended activity.

Price, variants and what to verify before buying
When accessed on October 8, 2026, CIGA Design’s en-int storefront displayed a price of US$1,199. That is a dated storefront observation, not a guaranteed price for every region, case variant or later date. Check the price shown for your location and selected material directly on the CIGA Design product page.
For context, Fratello Watches reported launch-era prices of US$1,199 for stainless steel and US$1,399 for titanium. It also reported temporary pre-launch prices of US$1,049 and US$1,249, respectively, for the June 10–25 launch window. Those offer prices were tied to that historical window and should not be treated as current. The same article reported a two-year warranty at launch, but current warranty coverage by region was not established on the official product page. - Local price and terms: Confirm the amount, currency, taxes, shipping costs and return conditions shown for your location.
- Wrist fit: Consider the listed 46 mm diameter and 17.05 mm thickness, and try it on if you can.
- Strap dimensions: Confirm attachment and buckle widths before buying a replacement strap.
- Warranty and service: Ask the seller which warranty applies to your region, what it covers and how service is arranged.
How the Blue Planet II Atlantic fits the Blue Planet story
CIGA Design says the Blue Planet line won the GPHG Challenge Watch Prize in 2021. The official page also cites a 2019 shortlist and a 2013 Red Dot: Best of the Best award for an earlier prototype. These are the brand’s stated milestones for the line and prototype, not awards for the Atlantic edition itself.

Is the Blue Planet II Atlantic the right choice?
The Atlantic is best considered as a design-led automatic watch for someone drawn to its topographic ocean dial and nonstandard time display. The manufacturer lists sapphire glass, a fluororubber strap and an automatic movement with a 40-hour stated reserve, but the 46 mm case and 17.05 mm thickness make wrist fit worth checking rather than assuming. Compare the selected material and local price, and get the seller’s warranty and water-use guidance in writing if those details matter to your decision.
