Apple’s 2026 Apple Watch band updates are a rolling refresh of existing designs, not a new connector system or major band platform. The main seasonal update arrived on March 2 with five new color options across the Sport Band and Sport Loop families. Apple then added a Black Unity special edition in January and a Pride Edition Sport Loop in May.
For most buyers, the practical choice remains simple: choose the Sport Band for easier cleaning and regular water exposure, or the Sport Loop for softer, more breathable, finely adjustable fabric. Both standard options cost $49 in the U.S., before tax.

The March 2026 Apple Watch band colors
Apple’s March 2 seasonal refresh added new colors to two established band families:

These are primarily new colorways rather than redesigned products. The Sport Band retains its molded fluoroelastomer construction and pin-and-tuck closure. The Sport Loop remains a soft nylon weave with a hook-and-loop fastener and cushioning loops against the wrist.
Other Apple Watch band releases in 2026
January: Unity Connection Braided Solo Loop
On January 26, Apple introduced the Unity Connection Braided Solo Loop for Black History Month. Its red, green, and black design references the Pan-African flag. It is a special-edition Braided Solo Loop, not a new band category, and costs $99 in the U.S.
Apple lists it for 42mm and 46mm case sizes, with band sizes 0 through 12. Apple says it works with Apple Watch Series 4 or later, Apple Watch SE, and all Apple Watch Ultra models when the 46mm band size is used. Because it has no adjustable buckle, sizing should be treated as a purchase decision rather than an afterthought.

May: Pride Edition Sport Loop
Apple released the Pride Edition Sport Loop on May 4. It uses 11 colors of woven nylon yarn and costs $49 in the U.S. It is listed in 40mm, 42mm, and 46mm sizes, alongside a Pride Luminance watch face and matching iPhone and iPad wallpaper.
The Pride release is a special-edition Sport Loop design, not a separate attachment system. Availability may vary between Apple’s website and physical stores, so “available to order” does not necessarily mean immediate in-store stock.

Sport Band

The compromise is comfort preference: a rubber-like material can feel warmer or less breathable, and its fixed holes offer less fine adjustment than hook-and-loop fastening. It is not automatically the best option for every workout, but it is generally the easier band to maintain after repeated exposure to sweat or water.

The Sport Loop’s nylon weave and hook-and-loop closure make it softer, more breathable, and easier to fine-tune around the wrist. Those qualities make it appealing for sleep and long periods of wear, especially for people who dislike elastomer bands.
Its fabric construction also needs more care. It can collect dirt and absorb sweat, while the hook-and-loop fastening may wear with extended use. It is less convenient than a smooth Sport Band when the watch is regularly exposed to chlorine, saltwater, mud, or heavy sweat.

Compatibility: check the case-size family first
Apple’s band store currently organizes products around 40mm, 42mm, 46mm, and 49mm filters. Do not assume that broad Apple Watch interchangeability means every band fits every case.

Before ordering, verify:
- Your Apple Watch’s case-size family, using the watch’s settings, original packaging, or existing purchase information.
- The band’s required size or, for a Solo Loop, its specific band size.
- Whether the band is intended for a standard Apple Watch or an Apple Watch Ultra.
- Whether the product requires a particular lug or connector size.
Check the individual product page at the Apple Watch Bands store immediately before purchase. Seasonal inventory, regional color names, and available sizes can change.
Take extra care with Solo Loop sizing
Solo Loop and Braided Solo Loop bands do not have a buckle for last-minute adjustment. Use Apple’s sizing guidance and measure carefully rather than guessing from a previous third-party band. A band that is too tight can be uncomfortable; one that is too loose may prevent the watch’s sensors from sitting correctly.
Should you buy one?
- Buy the March Sport Band if you want one of the new colors, easy cleanup, and a band suitable for frequent workouts or water exposure at the lowest official Apple price.
- Buy the March Sport Loop or Pride Edition Sport Loop if softness, breathability, and precise adjustment matter more than quick drying and effortless cleaning.
- Buy the Unity Connection Braided Solo Loop if you specifically want its commemorative design and minimalist, buckle-free construction. The $99 price is hard to justify if your priority is rugged exercise or swimming use.
- Choose an Ultra band if you own an Apple Watch Ultra or specifically want Alpine, Trail, or Ocean construction. These are generally $99, while titanium Milanese Loop models reach $199.
The March update is worth considering if you want a current seasonal color, but it is not a technical upgrade. Owners satisfied with an older Sport Band or Sport Loop should expect no new clasp, material system, sensor feature, or connector advantage from these color additions.

Availability and skin-contact considerations
Seasonal and commemorative colors can leave Apple’s catalog later, so the current product page is the authoritative source for whether a particular color can still be ordered. Prices in this article are U.S. list prices before tax; other countries may have different prices, translated color names, and availability.
Apple notes that some Watch bands contain trace amounts of acrylates and methacrylates and that some watch and band components contain nickel. If you have a known sensitivity, review Apple’s materials and skin-contact guidance before buying.
