The July 2, 2024 leak was unusually comprehensive, but it was still a leak. A translated report published before Samsung’s July 10 Unpacked event listed the likely sizes, batteries, processors, displays, durability ratings, colors, and prices of the Galaxy Watch 7 and Galaxy Watch Ultra. Samsung later confirmed most of the important hardware—but corrected the software wording, changed the expected U.S. pricing, and revealed Ultra features the leak did not fully describe.
These are now established products rather than upcoming rumors. Here is how the leaked specification sheet compared with Samsung’s final announcement.

What exactly leaked?
PhoneArena’s July 2 report attributed the information to a translated source and warned that the specifications might not be completely accurate. It attempted to reveal almost the entire hardware sheet, including case dimensions and weights, screen sizes and resolutions, the Exynos processor, memory, storage, battery capacities, wireless connectivity, sensors, durability ratings, colors, and expected U.S. pricing.

That distinction matters. The report was not a Samsung document, and “full specs” meant a near-complete rumor sheet—not official confirmation. Nevertheless, its core hardware details proved remarkably close to Samsung’s July 10 announcement.

Samsung’s official announcement confirms the Ultra’s materials, display, software, health features, durability claims and battery estimates.

The Watch 7 also includes Samsung’s BioActive Sensor, temperature, accelerometer, barometer, gyroscope, geomagnetic and light sensors. It is available in two case sizes and with either Bluetooth/Wi-Fi or LTE connectivity, giving buyers considerably more choice than the Ultra’s single 47mm LTE configuration.
What the leak got right—and what it missed
Accurate headline hardware
The report correctly identified the most important shared platform: Samsung’s five-core Exynos W1000 built on a 3nm process, paired with 2GB of RAM and 32GB of storage. It also correctly listed the Watch 7’s two sizes and batteries, the Ultra’s 47mm case and 590mAh battery, the display resolutions, weights, sapphire crystal, colors and broad connectivity options.

Software terminology was off
The leak called the software “One UI Watch 6.0.” Samsung’s official launch terminology was Wear OS 5 powered by Samsung with One UI 6 Watch. The leak captured the general direction but not the final product naming.
Dust protection needs attribution
The leaked IP6X claim should not be repeated as the final official rating. Samsung’s announcement lists IP68 for the Ultra. The Watch 7’s durability details should likewise be read from Samsung’s final specification and footnote documentation rather than treated as a verbatim copy of the rumor.
The prices were too high
The leak estimated roughly $320–$400 for the Watch 7 range and about $700 for the Ultra in the United States. Samsung’s official launch MSRP was lower: $299.99–$379.99 for the Watch 7, depending on size and connectivity, and $649.99 for the Ultra.
Exynos W1000: why the processor mattered
Samsung described the Exynos W1000 as the first 3nm processor in a Galaxy Watch. It claimed up to three times faster CPU performance and a 30% improvement in application-processor power efficiency. Samsung also highlighted dual-frequency GPS, intended to improve positioning accuracy in dense urban environments.
Those are Samsung’s claims, not independent benchmark results. A 3nm chip and a newer architecture can improve responsiveness and efficiency, but real-world results depend on display settings, LTE use, GPS activity, software and other factors. The processor specification alone cannot guarantee a particular battery life.

Health and fitness features beyond the leak
The rumor concentrated on hardware, while Samsung’s announcement supplied much of the practical context:
Outdated Drivers Are Slowing You Down

A free scan shows the junk files, broken settings and background clutter dragging Windows down - then fixes them in one click.Free scan · Windows 10 & 11- BioActive Sensor: combines optical bio-signal sensing, electrical heart-signal measurement and bioelectrical impedance analysis.
- Temperature sensing: adds another data source for health and wellness features.
- AGEs Index: Samsung describes this as an indicator related to metabolic health and biological aging. It is not a medical diagnosis or a definitive measurement of your biological age.
- Workout tracking: support extends to more than 100 workout types, with Workout Routine and a Race feature for comparing current and previous performance.
- Training tools: the watches add personalized heart-rate zones and Functional Threshold Power support for cycling.
- Ultra-specific tracking: the Ultra is aimed at triathlon and multisport activities, with dedicated outdoor controls including the Quick Button and Emergency Siren.
Health measurements can vary by phone model, market, regulatory approval, software and Samsung Health support. They should not replace professional medical advice.
Battery: capacity is not the same as endurance
| Model | Battery capacity |
|---|---|
| Galaxy Watch 7 40mm | 300mAh |
| Galaxy Watch 7 44mm | 425mAh |
| Galaxy Watch Ultra 47mm | 590mAh |
Samsung claimed up to 100 hours for the Ultra in Power Saving mode and up to 48 hours in Exercise Power Saving mode. These are manufacturer estimates under specified conditions—not promises of four days of ordinary mixed use.
Always-on display use, LTE, continuous GPS, sleep tracking, notifications and frequent workouts can all change endurance. The Watch 7’s smaller batteries also make the choice of case size meaningful: the 44mm model has substantially more capacity than the 40mm model, although capacity alone does not predict exact daily runtime.
10ATM, IP68 and MIL-STD-810H explained
These ratings describe different things and do not make either watch indestructible.
Rank #4
- Next-Generation 3nm Processor: Exynos W1000 chipset delivers significantly faster performance and smoother app navigation.
- 10ATM: a water-resistance rating measured under laboratory conditions. It does not mean the watch is suitable for every water activity.
- IP68: addresses dust protection and fresh-water immersion under specified test conditions. It is not a universal guarantee against salt water, chemicals, pressure or long-term wear.
- MIL-STD-810H: indicates testing against selected environmental conditions. It does not guarantee survival of every impact, temperature, altitude or vibration scenario.
Samsung says the Ultra can operate from 500 meters below sea level to 9,000 meters above sea level, but it also explicitly warns that the watch is not suitable for high-pressure water activities or diving. “Water resistant” is the accurate term; “waterproof” is not.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Design and everyday wear
The Watch 7 follows the familiar Galaxy Watch formula. It is available in 40mm and 44mm sizes, weighs far less than the Ultra, and is easier to wear overnight or on a smaller wrist.
The Ultra is 47mm wide, 12.1mm thick and 60.5g before considering the band. Its Titanium Grade 4 frame, cushion design, larger display, Quick Button and siren are useful for outdoor and endurance activities, but they also make it a conspicuous and heavier everyday watch. It is not simply a Watch 7 with a larger battery.
Software, phones and LTE requirements
Both watches launched with Wear OS 5 powered by Samsung and One UI 6 Watch. Samsung states that Wear OS compatibility requires an Android 11-or-newer phone, excluding Android Go devices and phones without Google Play Store support, with more than 1.5GB of memory. Compatibility can vary by device brand, market and carrier.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDo not assume iPhone compatibility. LTE also requires the LTE watch model, a compatible carrier and an appropriate plan. Some health, Galaxy AI and Samsung Health features may require a compatible Galaxy phone, Samsung account, supported software or local regulatory approval.

Official U.S. prices and availability
Samsung began U.S. preorders on July 10, 2024, with general availability from July 24. The official launch MSRP was:
- Galaxy Watch 7 40mm Bluetooth: $299.99
- Galaxy Watch 7 44mm Bluetooth: $329.99
- Galaxy Watch 7 40mm LTE: $349.99
- Galaxy Watch 7 44mm LTE: $379.99
- Galaxy Watch Ultra 47mm LTE: $649.99
These are U.S. launch prices from July 2024; prices, promotions and availability can change. The official Samsung MSRP sheet lists the model-by-model figures.
Which one should you buy?
Choose the Galaxy Watch 7 if:
- You want a lighter, conventional smartwatch for notifications, sleep, health and everyday workouts.
- You need a choice of 40mm or 44mm sizing.
- You want the lower entry price.
- You do not need titanium construction, the Quick Button, the siren or the Ultra’s largest battery.
Choose the Galaxy Watch Ultra if:
- You regularly run, cycle, hike, use GPS or train across multiple sports.
- You value the largest battery, titanium frame and 3,000-nit display.
- You want LTE included as standard and prefer dedicated outdoor controls.
- You are comfortable with a 47mm, 12.1mm-thick and roughly 60.5g watch.
The Ultra’s premium price buys meaningful hardware and outdoor features, but not necessarily a proportionally better experience for ordinary smartwatch use. For most Samsung phone owners, the Watch 7 is the more practical choice. The Ultra makes more sense when its endurance, visibility, controls and rugged construction directly match how you exercise or travel.
Verdict on the leak
The report was not completely “out of the bag,” but it was close on the core hardware. It correctly anticipated the Exynos W1000, memory, storage, batteries, sizes, displays, weights, colors and much of the connectivity. Samsung later corrected the software naming, used different final dust-resistance wording, priced both product lines below the leak’s U.S. estimates, and revealed a fuller picture of the Ultra’s controls and outdoor identity.
In hindsight, it was a strong pre-launch leak—not an official specification sheet.
