Yes—if you want a versatile, refined automatic watch more than you want the Rolex name or the Datejust’s exact design. The Longines Conquest is the strongest value candidate in the available price data; the Tudor Glamour Double Date offers a more look-oriented route for less; and the Omega Seamaster Aqua Terra is a costlier option that still sold below the Datejust in one retailer’s cited pre-owned transactions. None is a feature-for-feature substitute, so compare the exact reference, fit, condition, and specifications before choosing.

What does a Datejust alternative need to replace?

The Datejust combines everyday versatility with dress-watch refinement, an automatic movement, and a date display. But “alternative” can mean either a watch for the same role or a close visual stand-in. Those are different goals: a watch may suit daily wear and formal occasions without copying the Datejust’s bezel, bracelet, or date magnifier.

For a concrete baseline, Rolex’s US product page lists the Datejust 36 Oystersteel reference 126200-0027 at $8,350. That configuration has a 36 mm Oystersteel case, automatic calibre 3235, sapphire crystal with a Cyclops lens over the date, 100 m water resistance, and approximately 70 hours of power reserve. This is one listed reference and price, not a price or specification for every Datejust; materials, bezels, bracelets, and dials vary across the family. Rolex’s Datejust 36 reference 126200-0027.

How do the named alternatives compare on price?

Bob’s Watches reports the following ranges from its own pre-owned sales between July 2025 and July 2026, rounded to the nearest hundred dollars. These are that retailer’s transaction ranges—not market-wide valuations, current retail prices, or prices at other sellers.

#1 Best Overall
Conquest 41MM Automatic Watch
  • Automatic L888 movement, hours, minutes, seconds and date Case, hours, minutes, seconds, and date. Screw-down and transparent with sapphire crystal case back
  • Stainless steel with triple safety folding clasp and push-piece opening mechanism
  • 5 Year International Warranty
Watch Bob’s Watches pre-owned transaction range What the comparison supports
Rolex Datejust 36 $6,700–$10,100 typical Retailer’s used-transaction benchmark; not a universal value range
Tudor Glamour Double Date, steel $1,800–$2,500 Lower-priced, look-oriented option in Bob’s Watches’ editorial ranking
Omega Seamaster Aqua Terra, steel 38/41 mm $4,900–$6,000 Higher-priced alternative that remained below the Datejust range in this dataset
Longines Conquest models $1,200–$2,100 Lowest-priced named option in this retailer’s reported sales

Bob’s Watches calls the Conquest its value pick, the Tudor its route to the look for less, and the Aqua Terra its best all-around alternative. Those are the retailer’s own recommendations, not an independent consensus. See Bob’s Watches’ comparison and sales data.

Which alternative makes sense for your priorities?

Longines Conquest: prioritize value and versatility

The Conquest is the most defensible starting point if your main goal is a refined automatic date watch for everyday and occasional formal wear at a lower cost. WatchTime describes the Conquest 38 as understated and sporty-elegant, while noting that its crown guards make it look somewhat sportier. Its article gives a price of €2,250; that is a geographically and temporally specific editorial figure, not a US price or a current universal price. Read WatchTime’s Conquest comparison.

Rank #2
Conquest Automatic Watch
  • Automatic L898 Movement, Hours, minutes, small seconds at 3 o'clock. Chronograph mechanism: central 60 seconds hand, 12 hours counter at 6 o'clock and 30 minutes counter at 9 o'clock. Screw-down and transparent with sapphire crystal case back
  • Stainless steel with triple safety folding clasp and push-piece opening mechanism
  • 5 Year International Warranty

Bob’s Watches’ reported Conquest transactions were $1,200–$2,100 for models sold during July 2025 through July 2026. The category covers multiple models, so do not assume that range applies to a particular reference, condition, or seller.

Tudor Glamour Double Date: prioritize a closer dress-watch look for less

Bob’s Watches positions the steel Glamour Double Date as its look-for-less choice, with its own pre-owned transactions ranging from $1,800 to $2,500 in the stated period. That supports considering it when appearance and a lower used price matter; it does not establish that the watch duplicates the Datejust’s specifications or feel. Check the exact reference before comparing size, movement, water resistance, and date-display details.

Rank #3
Conquest 41MM Quartz Watch
  • Stainless steel with triple safety folding clasp and push-piece opening mechanism
  • 2 Year International Warranty

Omega Seamaster Aqua Terra: prioritize a higher-priced all-rounder

The Aqua Terra is the priciest of these three alternatives in Bob’s Watches’ reported used-sales ranges: $4,900–$6,000 for steel 38 mm and 41 mm examples in the stated period. The retailer calls it its best all-around alternative. Its range remains below the reported Datejust 36 range in this dataset, but price alone does not show that it is a better fit or a closer design match. Compare the precise size and reference you are considering.

What should you check before buying?

Compare the specific watch in front of you, rather than relying on a family name or nominal case diameter. Use this checklist:

Rank #4
Conquest 38MM Automatic Watch
  • Automatic L888 movement, hours, minutes, seconds and date Case, hours, minutes, seconds, and date. Screw-down and transparent with sapphire crystal case back
  • Stainless steel with triple safety folding clasp and push-piece opening mechanism
  • 5 Year International Warranty
  • Fit: Compare case diameter, thickness, lug-to-lug length, and bracelet fit for the exact reference. Similar diameters can wear differently.
  • Design: Decide whether you care about a fluted or smooth bezel, bracelet style, restrained dial, or magnified date. Alternatives may offer the same broad everyday role without reproducing signature Datejust details.
  • Movement and daily use: Check the exact movement, stated power reserve and accuracy, winding behavior, and date-setting method. A higher price does not automatically mean a noticeable daily-use improvement.
  • Water resistance and construction: Verify the manufacturer’s specification for the exact reference. The cited Datejust baseline is rated to 100 m; the price comparisons here do not establish equivalent water-resistance figures for the alternatives.
  • Condition and ownership cost: For a pre-owned watch, assess the seller, warranty, service history, return terms, and likely servicing alongside the asking price. Bob’s Watches’ ranges reflect its own past transactions, not a quote for a watch currently offered for sale.
  • What matters to you: Separate practical function and finishing from brand identity, design preference, resale expectations, and the personal value of owning a Rolex. The cited figures do not establish future resale performance for any of these watches.

So, are they worth buying?

They can be, when the watch’s own design and specifications suit you and the price difference matters more than the Datejust name or its signature details. The Conquest is the clearest value candidate in the cited sales data; the Tudor is the lower-priced, more look-oriented option in the retailer’s framing; and the Aqua Terra is a costlier alternative that still fell below the Datejust range in those transactions. Treat those distinctions as starting points, then decide by exact reference, fit, condition, and the features you will actually use.
