“Bleu Nuit, Nuage 50” is a deep-blue dial treatment appearing across multiple Audemars Piguet Royal Oak references—not one single watch. AP links the shade to the original 1972 Royal Oak and says it now uses physical vapor deposition (PVD) to achieve a more homogeneous color across the collection. The references discussed here span 34, 37, 38 and 41 mm, with different movements, dial patterns and configurations. “New” needs a date qualification: AP lists Bleu Nuit, Nuage 50 ceramic models among its 2025 launches, while its latest-releases page separately lists 2026 launches. The specific references below should not all be described as 2026 introductions.
What are the Royal Oak Bleu Nuit, Nuage 50 models?
They are Royal Oak watches sharing a blue dial color, not a single model with one set of specifications. Audemars Piguet describes the color as a tribute to the original 1972 Royal Oak. The manufacturer says the shade was originally achieved using a galvanic bath and is now produced by PVD for greater homogeneity across the collection. The design overview covers selfwinding and selfwinding chronograph watches in 34, 37, 38 and 41 mm sizes. AP’s design-evolution overview and its latest releases page place the color and associated models in a continuing evolution rather than establishing every cited reference as a newly launched 2026 watch.
For any particular watch, check its reference number: case size, metal, bezel, dial pattern, movement, power reserve and water resistance vary by configuration.
What changed in the Royal Oak design?
AP describes refinements to the case and bracelet, alongside harmonized proportions for the hands and hour markers across the 34, 37, 38 and 41 mm collection. These are manufacturer descriptions, not independent findings about comfort or wear.

AP describes Grande Tapisserie as a complex guilloché process requiring rare know-how that is no longer taught in horology schools. That statement is the manufacturer’s characterization; it is not an independently established survey of school curricula.
Which references and movements are identified?
The available specifications illustrate why these watches should be compared by reference rather than by dial color alone. The 37 mm selfwinding collection uses Calibre 5900; AP identifies Calibre 4401 in the 41 mm chronographs. A separate 41 mm steel selfwinding reference uses Calibre 4302.

AP says Calibre 5900 is thinner and has a higher frequency than the Calibre 3120 it replaces. The 60-hour reserve belongs to Calibre 5900, while the cited 41 mm steel Calibre 4302 reference has a stated 70-hour reserve. Do not apply either figure to every Bleu Nuit watch.
What is the difference between Petite and Grande Tapisserie?
AP identifies both Petite and Grande Tapisserie patterns among the collection’s dials, but the cited pages do not provide a detailed technical comparison of their geometry. The references above are explicitly described with Grande Tapisserie; confirm the pattern for any other specific model rather than assuming it from the color or case size.

Do all Bleu Nuit models have the anniversary rotor?
No such generalization is supported. AP identifies an openworked 22-carat-gold “50-years” oscillating weight for selfwinding and selfwinding chronograph models in 37 and 41 mm, with its color matched to the case. That description does not establish that every Bleu Nuit reference has the weight.
