The BA111OD Chapter 4.1 T.V.D. is the launch-era Swiss-made tourbillon; it should not be confused with the brand’s current Chapter 4 Skeleton Tourbillon T.V.D. listings in 39 mm and 43 mm. BA111OD’s current pages describe the later listings’ movement and specifications, but do not establish that every detail or current price applies to the original Chapter 4.1 reference. The available evidence supports a careful assessment of what the brand says—not an independent hands-on review or timing test.
What is the BA111OD Chapter 4.1 T.V.D.?
T.V.D. stands for “The Veblen Dilemma,” according to BA111OD’s March 2022 press material. The Chapter 4.1 was presented as a Swiss-made tourbillon, and the brand said its first series of 220 units found takers in four months. That is a historical statement from the brand, not evidence of current stock or production numbers. BA111OD’s Chapter 4.1 press material is the relevant source for the original launch-era claims.
The name now also appears in current product listings for the Chapter 4 Skeleton Tourbillon T.V.D., offered in 39 mm and 43 mm sizes. Those pages are useful for understanding the present T.V.D. lineup, but they do not prove that the original 4.1 had identical specifications. BA111OD’s Chapter 4 collection shows the current family.
Movement and chronometer certification
For its current Chapter 4 Skeleton Tourbillon T.V.D. listings, BA111OD specifies the hand-wound BA.01 tourbillon calibre with a variable-inertia balance, 19 jewels, a 3 Hz frequency and a 120-hour power reserve. The brand also lists magnetic resistance of 2,000 gauss and shock resistance of 5,000 G. These are manufacturer specifications, not independently verified measurements for the original Chapter 4.1. BA111OD calls the calibre its first in-house tourbillon and credits development within its ecosystem, naming Olivier Mory and BCP Tourbillons; “in-house” here is the brand’s description, not a claim that every component or production step is vertically integrated. BA111OD says the watch head is chronometer-certified by Timelab, Geneva Observatory of Chronometry. The available product information does not include the certificate itself or an independent timing report, so prospective buyers should request the documentation for the exact watch they are considering.

Both listings describe a 904L stainless-steel case with gunmetal anthracite DLC treatment, a box-shaped sapphire crystal with double anti-reflective coating, an openworked dial and 5 ATM water resistance. The shared specifications and prices are manufacturer-published; confirm them with BA111OD before ordering. The current listings are the 39 mm product page and 43 mm product page.
For fit, the measurable distinction is the case footprint: the 39 mm version is 4 mm narrower and 3.2 mm shorter lug-to-lug than the 43 mm version. Wrist shape and personal fit still matter, so those dimensions are a starting point rather than a guarantee of comfort.

Price: launch-era figures versus current listings
BA111OD’s March 2022 press page currently displays CHF 7,500 for the Chapter 4.1. Its launch narrative also refers to a price below CHF 5,000 and an introductory offer below CHF 4,000 for the first 50 buyers. These are historical brand-published figures and should not be treated as current prices or verified transaction prices for the same SKU. The current 39 mm and 43 mm Skeleton Tourbillon T.V.D. pages each list CHF 8,200. The different product naming and time periods mean these figures are not a like-for-like price comparison.
What the launch material says about NFC
The original Chapter 4.1 press material describes NFC technology in the crystal for a concierge service. The current product descriptions reviewed do not clearly confirm whether that functionality is present on the currently listed 39 mm and 43 mm watches. Ask the seller to confirm NFC support for the exact reference rather than assuming it carries over from the original launch description.

Is it a good buy?
The appeal is clear on paper: a skeletonised presentation, a tourbillon, a long stated power reserve and an unusual pair of case sizes at the same currently listed price. But the available brand pages cannot establish comparative value against other tourbillons, real-world accuracy, long-term reliability or service cost. Those judgments need evidence that the product descriptions do not provide, including independent timing results and a clear account of service arrangements.
Before purchase, confirm the exact SKU, current price and delivery estimate, and obtain the warranty and return terms, service arrangements and chronometer documentation in writing. These details matter especially when a current listing is being used to evaluate a model name tied to an earlier launch.
