When aBlogtoWatch covered the BALL Engineer II Genesis Limited Edition on December 11, 2015, it reported a preorder price of $853 that ran only while supplies lasted or until December 31, 2015, with a later retail price of $1,550. That offer is long over. This guide covers what the watch is, what its source-era specifications say, and how to judge any listing you find now.
What the Engineer II Genesis is
The Genesis is an automatic watch from BALL’s Engineer II line, released for the brand’s 125th anniversary. According to aBlogtoWatch’s launch article, it came in black or blue dials, on a leather strap or steel bracelet, with an optional personalized case back.
Specifications from the 2016 catalog
These figures come from BALL’s 2016 collection catalog (v.16.1.1). They are source-era specifications, so confirm the exact reference before assuming a given watch has every feature.

The price story
The launch article’s wording was: “Pre-order price for the Ball Engineer II Genesis Limited Edition regardless of dial color and bracelet option will be $853 while supplies last and/or until December 31, 2015, with pre-orders shipping in March 2016; the retail price afterwards will be $1,550.”

So $853 was a time-limited promotion, and $1,550 was the stated retail price afterward. Neither is a current market value. I could not verify a current listing under $1,000, so treat any such claim as something to check yourself.
What the secondhand market shows
- A UK retailer page, Jura Watches, identifies Genesis references NM2026C-S7-BK and NM2026C-LBK7-BK, describing an automatic movement and a 40 mm case. It confirms the reference format, not current stock or price.
- Dated 2024 r/Watchexchange posts show asking prices for 40 mm examples. Asking prices are not completed sales, and they don’t establish current availability or typical value.
How to evaluate a listing
- Confirm the reference. Match the case back and listing to a Genesis reference such as NM2026C-S7-BK (bracelet) or NM2026C-LBK7-BK (strap variant), and check the size.
- Choose 40 mm or 43 mm. Both are 13.55 mm tall per the catalog, so diameter is the main fit difference. Check the lug-to-lug on your wrist.
- Check the configuration. Dial colour, bracelet or leather strap, and whether a bracelet is complete and original.
- Verify completeness. Box, papers, any limited-edition documentation, and extra links or straps.
- Ask about condition and service. Request clear photos of the case, crystal and clasp, plus any service history. Confirm the watch keeps time and the day/date changes correctly.
- Assess seller and warranty. Prefer sellers with a return window and a stated warranty. A dealer’s warranty is the seller’s, so ask what it covers.
- Compare total cost. Add shipping, import duty and tax, and any service you may need, then compare against several active listings, not a single post.
Is a price under $1,000 plausible now?
It may be for a pre-owned example, but the evidence here doesn’t prove it. Use the original $853 and $1,550 figures only as history, and judge any current offer by its own reference, condition, inclusions and seller terms.
