The key choice is not simply 37 mm versus 35 mm: the cited Nivada specification does not state lug-to-lug length, and the two watches also differ in winding, design character and published specifications.
At a glance: what separates the two watches?

Specifications are the makers’ published claims, not results of independent durability or performance tests. Baltic figures are from its Hermétique Tourer Brown product page; Nivada figures and price are from its Antarctic specification page, accessed in 2026. Nivada’s heritage context and Laidet’s measurement description appear on its Antarctic heritage page.

Which one is likely to suit your priorities?
Choose the Baltic if you want an automatic and a stated water-resistance rating
The Tourer is the clearer match if you prefer a watch that winds itself through wear, want a stated 42-hour reserve, or consider a published water-resistance figure important. Baltic specifies 150 m (15 ATM), giving this model a more explicit water-resistance proposition on paper. That figure alone is not a substitute for following the maker’s instructions about use and maintenance.

Choose the Nivada if you prefer a smaller diameter and hand winding
The Antarctic 35 mm is the more compact choice by stated diameter and the only one of the pair with a hand-wound movement. Its no-date, three-hand layout and dial options are part of a heritage-led design rather than Baltic’s field-watch framing. Nivada describes the reissue as drawing on the original Antarctic’s dimensions and design codes.

How should you judge size and wrist fit?
The Nivada’s 35 mm diameter is 2 mm smaller than the Baltic’s 37 mm, and its listed total thickness is 10.1 mm compared with Baltic’s 10.8 mm. Those figures do not settle which will wear smaller or feel better on a particular wrist. Baltic publishes a 46 mm lug-to-lug measurement; the cited Nivada specification page does not provide one, so there is no like-for-like lug span to compare.
Measurement conventions also matter. Baltic gives both its 10.8 mm overall thickness and 8.3 mm without the crystal. Nivada’s specification page lists 10.1 mm without clarifying the convention there, while CEO Guillaume Laidet says the hand-wound movement enabled “slimness (7mm case thickness and 10.1mm with the crystal)”. Treat his two measurements as his description, not as an independently verified comparison with Baltic’s case measurement.
What do the movement and ownership differences mean?
The automatic Miyota 9039 in the Baltic avoids routine hand winding while the watch is being worn; its maker states a 42-hour reserve. The Nivada’s mechanical Landeron 21 requires hand winding and has a stated 36-hour reserve. The reserve figures describe how long each watch is specified to run when fully wound, not comparative accuracy or service life.
The Baltic page specifies a 20 mm lug width and lists three strap or bracelet choices. Nivada’s cited model page does not specify lug width or strap options, so check directly with the maker for fit and available configurations. Neither cited product page establishes servicing intervals, repair-network coverage or service costs; ask the brands or a qualified watchmaker about those before buying if long-term maintenance is a deciding factor.

What is known about price and water use?
Nivada’s official page lists 800 EUR, 770 CHF or 850 USD. The cited Baltic product page does not expose a numeric price, so an exact price comparison is not established here. Prices, stock and regional checkout totals can change; check both makers’ current listings, including applicable taxes and shipping.
Baltic publishes 150 m (15 ATM) water resistance for the Tourer. Nivada’s cited 35 mm specification page does not publish a water-resistance figure. That absence is not evidence that the Antarctic has lower resistance or is unsuitable for water; it means the available specification does not establish a figure for comparison.
Verdict
On published specifications, the Baltic is the more straightforward choice for automatic winding and an explicit water-resistance rating. The Nivada is the stronger fit for someone drawn to a smaller stated diameter, manual winding and an explicitly heritage-led design. Wrist fit, comparative accuracy, comfort, durability and value cannot be determined from these specifications alone; there was no side-by-side wrist or performance test.
