Why the Conquest 30 mm is the closest match
The Conquest brings together the main practical traits that make the Oyster Perpetual 28 an appealing everyday choice: a compact steel case, an automatic movement, and a steel bracelet. Its 30 mm case is 2 mm wider, so it is not a like-for-like size replacement. It also has a date, unlike the Rolex, and its dial and case design are distinct.
Longines lists the reference with a scratch-resistant sapphire crystal and anti-reflective coating on both sides, plus a steel bracelet with a triple-safety folding clasp. The US listing includes blue, green, silver, and white mother-of-pearl dial and bracelet variants. Longines calls the collection “The ultimate every day watch”; that is the manufacturer’s positioning, not an independent assessment.

When the Clair de Rose makes more sense
Choose the Clair de Rose if you want a 30 mm automatic steel watch but prefer a more ornate, polished appearance rather than the Oyster Perpetual’s straightforward styling. TUDOR’s listing includes non-gem and diamond-set dial options. Its blue-dial steel-bracelet version is listed at $3,225 USD, while a diamond-set variant is listed at $3,950 USD on the US page; these are market- and variant-specific prices.
What to compare before choosing
- Wrist fit: Compare the 28 mm Rolex with the 30 mm alternatives in person when possible. Diameter alone does not establish how a watch’s overall proportions will sit on your wrist.
- Dial and case style: The Conquest is the more straightforward alternative in this set; the Clair de Rose is more decorative. Neither is an exact visual replica of the Rolex.
- Date display: The Rolex has no date; the Conquest has one. Consider whether you want the added display.
- Movement reserve: Manufacturer figures are approximately 55 hours for the Rolex, up to 45 hours for the Conquest, and approximately 38 hours for the Clair de Rose. These are stated specifications, not comparative independent test results.
- Water resistance: The Rolex and Clair de Rose are listed at 100 m; Longines lists the Conquest at 10 bar. These specifications are reported in the manufacturers’ own units.
- Bracelet and clasp: Check the exact variant and bracelet configuration on the listing, then assess the fit and clasp in person if possible.
- Local price: The listed prices above are US figures. Check the current local listing for the exact reference and configuration you are considering.
The cited manufacturer pages establish specifications and listed prices, but do not establish comparative comfort, real-world accuracy, resale performance, or service costs. Those factors require separate evidence and should not be inferred from the specifications.
