A pioneer in watchmaking in Japan, watch and electronics company Citizen continues to be one of the most respected watch companies today.
One of the things that Citizen is known for is the revolutionary Eco-Drive® technology. This feature means that the watch does not need a battery. Introduced in 1976, this allows Citizen watches to only have light (artificial, natural, or dim) as the only power source. Because light is a renewable and natural resource, Citizen is not contributing to filling up landfills with batteries. According to Citizen, technology has helped eliminate the disposal of 10 million batteries in North America alone.
We’ve written an article about Citizen’s history. Here, you’ll learn more about the brand’s beginnings, technologies, and other essentials like watch quality and warranty policies. You can read more here.
Best Citizen Watches for Women
Below, we’ll explore some of Citizen’s most popular women’s watches—the customer favorites, those that constantly get good reviews, the most stylish, and so on. In no particular order, here are some of our top picks all of which are powered by Citizen’s Eco-Drive® model.
Citizen Women’s Axiom Watch
Citizen has a wide range of Axiom watches for both men and women. The Axiom EMO633-53A is an excellent watch for those looking for a stylish and simple timepiece—this 28mm pink gold-tone stainless steel watch is also equipped with Eco-Drive technology, which means that it doesn’t need batteries.
Priced at $220 on Citizen’s official website, this watch is also splash-resistant and has a band with a fold-over clasp with push buttons. If you’re not into the rose gold color, there are also similar styles (silver and gold cases).
Another bestseller from the Axiom line is the Axiom GA1050-51E, a watch for those looking for a neat design and is flexible enough to match different kinds of outfits. This 30mm Axiom has a small date window at 3 o’clock and is available in silver and gold cases.
Citizen Women’s Eco-Drive Chandler Fashion Watch
Citizen’s Chandler EW1676-52D is a 26mm that has a feminine design with sports watch features.
This three-hand model has a two-tone stainless steel case and bracelet, luminous hands and markers, and water resistance to 100m, which means that it can be used while showering, snorkeling, or some light swimming. It also has a date indicator at three o’clock, and of course, the Eco-Drive technology. You can also get the silver-tone version (the Chandler EW1670-59D), which has the same features and the same mother of pearl dial.
There’s a wide array of Chandler models. If you’re looking for something that’s has a classic and vintage look, you can also check our Chandler EM0492-02A, which is an attractive tank-style watch with a gold-tone stainless steel case and a brown leather strap with contrast stitching (great for those looking for a rugged look).
Citizen Corso Blue Dial Women’s Watch
Slightly bigger than the Chandler model featured above, the 28mm Corso EW2294-53L is also for those looking for an elegant, sporty-looking watch.
The deep blue dial allows the two-tone stainless steel case and gold markers to stand out. Also available in a silver case (the Corso EW2290-54L, which is slightly cheaper), this timepiece with a three-hand feature is water-resistant to 100m, has luminous hands, and a date window at 3 o’clock.
If you’re into a more classic look and a slightly smaller size, there’s also the 25mm Corso EW1264-50A, a Citizen best seller. This three-hand timepiece is described by Citizen as a watch that’s perfect for any occasion. The clean white dial and the two-tone stainless steel bracelet make it a stylish watch that you can wear in the office or during dressier occasions.
Citizen Eco-Drive Women’s Sunrise Watch
The Sunrise collection is composed of elegant women’s watches that are both innovative and stylish. According to Citizen, these watches were inspired by morning dewdrops: “This sparkling radiance evokes an impression of fresh, bright morning dew drops gently rolling down a leaf.”
We picked the Citizen L Sunrise EM0323-51N model because of its unique design. Beneath the case, there is an oblique ring with three diamonds that appear as if they are floating. Inside the case, there are more diamonds (a total of 10) and sapphire crystal. Other features include water resistance of 50m, three hands, and a bracelet with a deployment clasp with push buttons.
There are two other similar models, both of which also have a mother of pearl dial. There’s the EM0337-56D which has a two-tone stainless steel case, and the EM0320-59D, which has a blue dial and diamond accents. The three models have different price tags, which you can check out here.
These models are excellent for formal occasions, but a lot of customer reviews show that these are great with casual clothes, too. It’s admired for its stylish look as well as its ability to keep accurate time without having to replace the batteries.
Citizen Capella Diamond Stainless Steel Watch
Inspired by feminine curves, the Capella collection is composed of four designs that are all dotted with diamonds. These watches aren’t cheap (find the updated prices on the brand’s website), but the features make up for the hefty price tag.
The Capella EX1500-52A, for instance, has a silver stainless steel bracelet with a deployant clasp with push buttons, a spherical sapphire crystal. The other models feature a pink gold case and stainless steel or leather straps, and a silver case and a leather strap.
Like the Citizen L Sunrise, these watches are for those looking for something that can be worn casually but also matches well with more formal outfits.
Citizen Ceci Diamond Two-Tone Watch
If you’re into mesh watch bracelets, Citizen’s Ceci collection is for you. This jewelry-inspired ladies’ watch collection has what Citizen calls a “subtle case construction.” All four models have a mother of pearl dial and diamonds as markers.
The Ceci EM0796-59Y is the most unique among all four because of the diamond-decorated dial. While the three other models have 12 diamond markers, this one has only four, creating an elegant minimalist look. The case is two-tone stainless steel, a white mother of pearl dial, and a spherical sapphire crystal. All four models are water-resistant to 50m.
One of the most unique features of the Ceci watch is the blue spinel cabochon (a type of gem) crown, which accentuates the case and straps further. See all of the Ceci models here.
Citizen Stiletto Watch AR3072-09A
If diamonds aren’t your thing or if you’re looking for an everyday watch with a classic look, check out Citizen’s Stiletto collection.
These watches are bigger than the watches we’ve featured so far. The Stiletto AR3072-09A has a 39mm case, a gold-tone stainless steel case, and a leather strap. What makes this collection stand out is the sleek,ultra-thin look—the watch case may be bigger than most ladies’ watch sizes, but the thinness makes it look perfect for smaller wrists. You can also check out the equally Stylish Stiletto models here.
Citizen Women’s Drive Watch
Citizen’s Drive collection has more than a dozen styles—leather, mesh, stainless steel, with diamonds—but we’re focusing on one of the simplest designs: the Drive EM0688-01E.
This 27mm watch, which is referred to as the “mini Drive,” is a classic-looking timepiece for everyday use. The band is a vegan leather strap with buckle, and the case is a pink gold stainless steel. The black dial makes the pink gold markers stand out, allowing the wearer to read the time right away.
This is also available in different straps (Merlot red vegan strap, mesh) and different dials (mother of pearl, champagne). Simple and elegant, these are well-reviewed for their excellent quality and design.
These watches are part of Citizen’s Ladies’ Long Term Relationship (or LTR) watches: timeless, and powered by the Eco-Drive technology. You can explore the other Citizen Drive models here.
Citizen Collectable Mickey Mouse Watch
In 2018, Citizen has partnered with Disney and became the official timepiece of the Walt Disney World and Disneyland. In 2019, the two companies also released watch collections with Disney, Marvel, and Star Wars (the Walt Disney Company acquired Marvel Entertainment in 2009, and George Lucas sold his company to Disney in 2014).
One of the most popular collaborations features the iconic Disney characters, Mickey and Minnie. Available in models for both men and women (from 29mm to 43mm case sizes), these watches have what the brand calls “subtle references” of the beloved characters. These watches currently range from $295 to $425 on the Citizen’s website (visit this page to see the updated prices).
If you’re looking for a ladies’ watch that’s both elegant and playful, there’s the Mickey Mouse GA1051-58W, a 29.5mm stainless steel watch that has diamond markers. This one has a simple black dial that showcases the diamonds, and a small Mickey at 8 o’clock. There’s also the Mickey Mouse GA1056-54W, which has the same features, but with a gold-tone case.
Those who like Minnie Mouse can also opt for the two new ladies’ models: the Minnie Mouse EW2448-01W and EW2448-51W, which both have rose gold cases, four-diamond accents at 12, 3, 6, and 9’oclock, and subtle signature Minnie polka dots on the case.
Citizen Marvel Collectors Watch
If you’re into Marvel watches, consider Citizen’s collection of watches inspired by the entertainment company. One of the best sellers for women is the Captain Marvel EM0596-58W, inspired by Captain Marvel.
Featuring Captain Marvel’s gold star on the striking blue case, this watch has gold-tone accents, Swarovski crystal accents, and crystal markers on stainless steel case and bracelet. This one is a 37mm, so it will actually look excellent on all wrists—not too small, but not too big either. Other features include water resistance to 50m, a mineral crystal, and a fold-over clasp with push buttons.
If you’re not into the silver stainless steel material, there are two other models to choose from: the Captain Marvel FE6101-05W, which has a blue silicone strap, silver dial, and a silver/gold-tone accents; and the slightly bigger 40mm Captain Marvel FE7062-51W, which has a mesh bracelet with a navy dial and gold-tone accents.
Other Marvel characters featured on the watches include The Avengers, Black Panther, Captain America, Spider-Man, and The Hulk. Limited editions are also available. Check them all out here.
Citizen Signature Versaille Luxury Watch
We’ll end this list with a luxurious watch, one of the pricier Citizen ladies’ timepieces. The Versailles EM0374-50A is made of two-tone stainless steel and has elegant diamond access on the case. Water-resistant to 100 meters, this watch has diamonds on the crown, inner ring, and bezel, making it a watch perfect for special occasions.
