Pixel owners had a stronger reason to choose the Google Pixel Watch 3, while the OnePlus Watch 2 was the better pick for battery life. The Galaxy Watch Ultra served buyers who specifically wanted a large, rugged LTE watch—not people who simply wanted notifications and fitness tracking.
Important: this is a 2024 buying guide, based on the models and software available at the time. Prices, availability and software support may have changed since then. Modern Wear OS watches in this group are primarily Android-only, so iPhone owners should not expect Apple Watch-style integration.

Quick comparison
| Watch | Best for | Sizes | Software at launch | Realistic battery expectation | LTE | Main drawback |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Samsung Galaxy Watch7 | Most Android users | 40mm, 44mm | Wear OS 5 generation | About 1.5–2 days | Optional | Some advanced features work best with Samsung phones |
| Google Pixel Watch 3 | Pixel, Google and Fitbit users | 41mm, 45mm | Wear OS 5.0 | About one day | Optional | Shorter endurance and Fitbit Premium considerations |
| Samsung Galaxy Watch Ultra | Premium outdoor use | Large single-size design | Wear OS 5 generation | About 1.5–2 days | Included | Expensive and oversized |
| OnePlus Watch 2 | Battery life | Large case | Wear OS generation varies by update | Several days in suitable modes | Not the main selling point | Large design and less compelling health ecosystem |
| Samsung Galaxy Watch FE | Lower-cost Samsung entry | 40mm | Older Galaxy Watch hardware | Typically about a day | Optional | Less premium and potentially poor value near Watch7 pricing |
| Mobvoi TicWatch Pro 5 | Secondary-display endurance | Large case | Wear OS 3 | Several days, especially in low-power mode | Varies by model | Older software and weaker update confidence |
Battery figures are practical categories, not directly comparable laboratory results. Always-on display, LTE, GPS, sleep tracking, continuous health monitoring, notification volume and cellular signal can reduce endurance substantially.

Compatibility comes first
Wear OS is Google’s smartwatch platform, but it is not one uniform experience. Samsung adds One UI Watch and Samsung Health; Google emphasizes Fitbit, Google apps and Assistant; OnePlus focuses on endurance; and Mobvoi’s defining feature is its low-power display.
#1 Best Overall
- STYLISH DESIGN, BRIGHT DISPLAY: The sleek stainless steel build blends classic style with workout durability, while the bright 1.32" AMOLED display keeps your data easy to read, even under bright sunlight.
- PRECISE HEART RATE AND SLEEP TRACKING: Amazfit's BioTracker technology tracks your heart rate and sleep data with accuracy that previous sensors just can't match.
- UP TO 10 DAYS OF BATTERY LIFE: With long battery life that lasts up to 10 days with typical use, nightly recharges are a thing of the past.
- FREE MAPS WITH TURN DIRECTIONS: Stay on-track with free downloadable maps, and get turn-by-turn guidance on-screen or via your Bluetooth headphones. Enjoy ski maps for global resorts, including guidance for cable cars, slopes, and more.
- FASTER AND MORE ACCURATE GPS TRACKING: 5 satellite positioning systems ensure fast GPS connection and accurate positioning whenever you're out running, walking, cycling or hiking.
- Pixel phone: the Pixel Watch 3 is the cleanest Google experience.
- Samsung Galaxy phone: the Galaxy Watch7 or Ultra offers the deepest integration.
- Other Android phones: OnePlus, Google and Mobvoi are all relevant, subject to each model’s Android requirements.
- iPhone: do not buy one of these watches expecting reliable Apple Watch-like pairing, notifications, apps or health integration.
The Pixel Watch 3 requires a compatible Android phone running Android 10 or newer, a Google Account and the Pixel Watch app, according to Google’s specifications. Mobvoi lists Android 8.0 or newer for the TicWatch Pro 5. Compatibility does not guarantee identical features: Samsung’s most advanced health functions may require a Galaxy phone, Samsung apps or a Samsung account.
Best overall: Samsung Galaxy Watch7
The Galaxy Watch7 is the safest recommendation for most Android buyers because it balances health tracking, notifications, apps, display quality, performance, sizes and accessories better than the alternatives. Its 40mm and 44mm versions also make it easier to match the watch to a wrist rather than accepting one oversized case.
It is particularly strong for Samsung owners. Samsung Health, Samsung Wallet, Galaxy-device controls and some advanced health features fit together most naturally inside that ecosystem. Non-Samsung Android users can still find it attractive, but they should check the exact availability of ECG, blood-pressure and other health functions in their country before buying.
The principal compromise is charging. Under mixed use, expect roughly a day and a half to two days rather than a week. LTE, an always-on display, GPS workouts and sleep tracking can bring that down. Samsung’s US MSRP documents list $249.99 for the 40mm Bluetooth version and $279.99 for the 44mm Bluetooth version in later pricing documentation; those are not necessarily the original 2024 launch prices.
Buy it if: you want the broadest all-round Android smartwatch, especially with a Samsung phone. Skip it if: you want several days of endurance or an especially rugged watch.
Best Google smartwatch: Google Pixel Watch 3
The Pixel Watch 3 is the natural choice for Pixel owners and anyone who prefers Google’s services and Fitbit’s health platform. It keeps the minimalist rounded design of the Pixel Watch line while adding a useful 45mm option alongside the compact 41mm model. Google lists the 41mm at 31g without its band and the 45mm at 37g, with a 12.3mm height for both sizes.
It runs Wear OS 5.0 and provides Google’s watch apps, Assistant, Wallet and Maps alongside Fitbit tracking. The 45mm model is the better choice for larger wrists and may offer more comfortable screen reading, while the 41mm is easier to wear discreetly and overnight.

- STYLISH DESIGN, VIBRANT DISPLAY: The lightweight aluminum build blends effortless style with workout durability, while the vivid 1.97" AMOLED display keeps your data easy to read, even under bright sunlight.
- ALL-IN-ONE ACTIVITY TRACKING: The Amazfit Bip 6 fitness tracker watch offers 140+ workout modes including HYROX Race and Strength Training, plus personalized AI coaching and 50m water resistance.
- UP TO 14 DAYS BATTERY LIFE: The Amazfit Bip 6 smart watch powers through your training and recovery for up to two weeks at a time - no nightly charging needed.
- ACCURATE GPS TRACKING & NAVIGATION: Stay on course with free downloadable maps and turn-by-turn directions. Support from 5 satellite systems ensures precise tracking of every move and fast GPS connection.
- 24/7 HEALTH MONITORING: The Amazfit Bip 6 smartwatch provides precise, real-time monitoring of heart rate, sleep, blood-oxygen and stress, empowering you with actionable insights to optimize your health and fitness.
Its weakness is endurance. It is generally a one-day watch, particularly with the always-on display, LTE, GPS or frequent health monitoring enabled. Fitbit also has a subscription boundary: baseline Fitbit functions are available without necessarily requiring Premium, but some coaching, insights and workout content require Fitbit Premium. Features can also vary by region.
Buy it if: you use a Pixel phone or want the most coherent Google/Fitbit experience. Skip it if: nightly charging is unacceptable or you want advanced multisport tools above all else.
Best premium and rugged option: Samsung Galaxy Watch Ultra
The Galaxy Watch Ultra is a specialist watch. It combines Samsung’s Wear OS experience with a large, premium-looking case, LTE and outdoor-oriented positioning. It makes sense for buyers who deliberately want a substantial watch for hiking, outdoor navigation and long activities, or who value rugged styling and premium construction.
It is not automatically better for ordinary smartwatch tasks. Notifications, sleep tracking, calls and casual workouts do not require its size or price. Samsung’s US MSRP documentation lists $649.99, although current pricing and stock may differ.

As with the Watch7, advanced health features can depend on a compatible Samsung phone and supported region. LTE also requires carrier activation and usually an additional monthly charge; it is not free standalone connectivity.
Buy it if: you specifically need a premium, large, LTE-capable outdoor watch. Skip it if: you want value, a discreet fit or simply the best everyday smartwatch.
Best battery life: OnePlus Watch 2
The OnePlus Watch 2’s main advantage is its dual-engine architecture. A low-power system handles simpler tasks while Wear OS takes over for richer smartwatch functions. That design is why it is the strongest mainstream choice for Android users who dislike charging every night.

- Designed with a bright, colorful AMOLED display, get a more complete picture of your health, thanks to battery life of up to 11 days in smartwatch mode
- Body Battery energy monitoring helps you understand when you’re charged up or need to rest, with even more personalized insights based on sleep, naps, stress levels, workouts and more (data presented is intended to be a close estimation of metrics tracked)
- Get a sleep score and personalized sleep coaching for how much sleep you need — and get tips on how to improve plus key metrics such as HRV status to better understand your health (data presented is intended to be a close estimation of metrics tracked)
- Find new ways to keep your body moving with more than 30 built-in indoor and GPS sports apps, including walking, running, cycling, HIIT, swimming, golf and more
- Wheelchair mode tracks pushes — rather than steps — and includes push and handcycle activities with preloaded workouts for strength, cardio, HIIT, Pilates and yoga, challenges specific to wheelchair users and more (data presented is intended to be a close estimation of metrics tracked)
With power-saving behavior, it can run for several days, but no battery claim should be treated as universal. GPS, calls, music streaming, LTE-like cellular demands, an always-on display and poor phone or network conditions can reduce endurance. The large, traditional watch design also suits larger wrists better than smaller ones.
The Tool Desk
Outbyte PC Repair FREERepair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Outbyte Driver Updater FREEScan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →The trade-off is ecosystem depth. It lacks Samsung’s strongest Galaxy integration and does not offer the Pixel Watch’s Fitbit-first experience. It is best viewed as a capable full Wear OS watch with endurance, not as the strongest health platform in every category.
Buy it if: battery life outranks Samsung Health or Fitbit features. Skip it if: you have a small wrist or are deeply invested in another manufacturer’s health ecosystem.
Best lower-cost Samsung entry: Galaxy Watch FE
The Galaxy Watch FE is the simpler route into Samsung’s smartwatch ecosystem. It suits first-time buyers who mainly want notifications, payments, basic fitness tracking and Samsung-phone integration in a smaller 40mm case.
Its hardware is less premium than the Watch7’s, with a smaller display and older-generation positioning. The value depends heavily on the price gap: if a Watch7 is only slightly more expensive, the newer model is usually the better long-term purchase. Samsung documentation lists $199.99 for the 40mm Bluetooth model and $249.99 for LTE, while a later document marked the FE models as end-of-life. Availability and pricing should therefore be checked carefully.
Buy it if: price is the main constraint and you want Samsung software. Skip it if: the Watch7 is close in price or you want the newest hardware.
Best battery-focused alternative: Mobvoi TicWatch Pro 5
The TicWatch Pro 5 earns consideration because of its two-display design: a full-colour AMOLED panel for smartwatch tasks and an ultra-low-power display for basic information and endurance. That secondary screen is genuinely different from simply fitting a larger battery.

Mobvoi’s official page lists Wear OS 3 and Android 8.0-or-newer compatibility. In 2024, that older software version was a meaningful disadvantage beside newer Wear OS 4 and Wear OS 5 products. The watch is also large and less compelling for buyers who prioritize compact sizing, polished ecosystem integration or confidence in rapid major updates.
Buy it if: the secondary display and endurance solve a real problem for you. Skip it if: software freshness, update longevity or a slim design matters more.
Health and fitness: compare the ecosystem, not just the sensor list
These watches can cover heart-rate monitoring, sleep tracking, cycle tracking, workout recognition, GPS and exercise records, but the usefulness depends on the accompanying platform. Galaxy watches centre on Samsung Health; Pixel watches centre on Fitbit; OnePlus and Mobvoi rely more on their own companion software plus Wear OS and third-party apps.
ECG, irregular-heart-rhythm alerts, blood-oxygen functions, blood-pressure features and sleep-apnea-related tools are not universal medical capabilities. Availability can depend on country, regulatory clearance, compatible phones, calibration and software. Treat them as wellness or screening features unless the manufacturer and local regulator specify otherwise. Do not assume that a feature advertised for a Galaxy Watch works identically on a non-Samsung Android phone.
For running or hiking, GPS behaviour, workout controls and battery endurance may matter more than the number of sensors. For sleep tracking, case size and overnight comfort can be more important than a headline feature. A large Ultra or TicWatch may be powerful but unpleasant to wear through the night.
Battery life: what the published claims leave out
- Pixel Watch 3: plan around one day in demanding everyday use.
- Galaxy Watch7: roughly one-and-a-half to two days under mixed use.
- Galaxy Watch Ultra: longer endurance than the standard Galaxy models, but still affected by LTE, GPS and display settings.
- OnePlus Watch 2: several days is the reason to buy it, especially when power-saving behaviour is used.
- TicWatch Pro 5: several days or more is possible in low-power modes because of its secondary display.
These categories are more useful than comparing “up to” numbers from different brands. Before buying, decide whether you need continuous GPS, an always-on display, overnight tracking and cellular service simultaneously. Those are precisely the conditions most likely to turn a multi-day claim into daily charging.

Choose the case before choosing the colour. The Watch7’s 40mm and 44mm sizes, Pixel Watch 3’s 41mm and 45mm sizes, and the FE’s 40mm option cover smaller wrists better than the large OnePlus, TicWatch and Ultra designs.

It accurately tracks your steps, distance, and calories burned in real-time, helping you train smarter and achieve optimal results. With IP68 waterproof rating, it's protected against rain and hand washing, perfect for daily use.
Consider whether the watch fits beneath a shirt cuff, remains comfortable during sleep, and stays readable outdoors. Also check replacement-band availability and the connector used by the model. A comfortable strap matters more than a decorative material if you plan to wear the watch overnight.
Water resistance is not waterproofing. A suitable rating may support swimming, but it does not automatically make a watch appropriate for diving, hot tubs or saltwater. Rinse saltwater when the manufacturer permits it, avoid assuming water damage is covered by warranty, and check the manufacturer’s specific activity guidance. Sapphire or hardened glass may improve scratch resistance, but neither makes the watch immune to impact or makes repairs inexpensive.
Smartwatch features and LTE
All six models are intended to handle core Wear OS tasks such as notifications, app access, music controls and payments, but phone and manufacturer ecosystems shape the details. Check support for quick replies, wrist calls, downloaded music, maps, voice assistants, camera controls, smart-home controls and device-finding tools against the phone you actually use.
Recommended Free Tools
LTE can allow calls, messages and selected apps away from a phone, but it requires carrier compatibility, plan activation and adequate network coverage. It can also increase battery drain. A cellular watch is not a guaranteed phone replacement, and emergency calling rules and app behaviour vary by country and carrier.
Software support is part of the price
Wear OS version matters. Google lists Wear OS 5.0 for the Pixel Watch 3, while Mobvoi lists Wear OS 3 for the TicWatch Pro 5. That does not by itself determine every current feature, but it is a warning that older software can mean fewer capabilities and less confidence in future major upgrades.
Samsung and Google are the safer choices for buyers who value a current platform and integrated first-party services. OnePlus is attractive when battery life dominates the decision. Mobvoi’s low-power display remains compelling, but buyers should accept the possibility of slower or shorter software support rather than treating its hardware endurance as a free advantage.
How to choose
- Check the phone. Pixel users should start with Pixel Watch 3; Samsung users should start with Galaxy Watch7. Other Android users should compare OnePlus, Google and Mobvoi more carefully.
- Set a charging limit. Choose OnePlus or Mobvoi if several days matter more than ecosystem polish.
- Decide whether health features are essential. Verify country, phone and account requirements before relying on ECG, blood pressure, oxygen or sleep-related functions.
- Measure the wrist. The Ultra, OnePlus and TicWatch are large; the 40mm FE, 40mm Watch7 and 41mm Pixel are safer for smaller wrists.
- Price LTE honestly. Add the carrier’s activation and monthly service cost to the purchase decision.
- Check subscriptions. Pixel buyers should identify which Fitbit features are free and which require Premium.
- Buy for the software you will use. Samsung Health, Fitbit and Mobvoi’s companion experience are not interchangeable.
Final verdict
- Best overall: Samsung Galaxy Watch7.
- Best for Pixel and Google users: Google Pixel Watch 3.
- Best battery life: OnePlus Watch 2.
- Best rugged premium option: Samsung Galaxy Watch Ultra.
- Best budget Samsung option: Galaxy Watch FE, if the discount is meaningful.
- Best secondary-display endurance: Mobvoi TicWatch Pro 5, provided its older Wear OS version is acceptable.
For a single recommendation, choose the Galaxy Watch7. Change that choice to the Pixel Watch 3 for a Pixel phone, or to the OnePlus Watch 2 if charging frequency is your overriding concern.
Prices and feature availability discussed here are US-oriented and may vary by country, carrier, software update and promotion.
