What is the Bathyscaphe in the Fifty Fathoms collection?
The Bathyscaphe is a subcollection of Blancpain’s Fifty Fathoms. Blancpain says the original Fifty Fathoms was presented in 1953 and that the Bathyscaphe followed in 1956 as the collection’s “urban alter ego.” Those dates and that characterization are the brand’s own historical account. Which ceramic Bathyscaphe models are available?
Blancpain’s November 11, 2024 announcement describes ceramic Bathyscaphe references in three complication categories. It identifies blue, green, and black dial options across the broader family, but does not assign every dial color to every complication in the announcement.

The same announcement states a 43.6 mm diameter and 30 bar water resistance for the new ceramic creations. What does a specific three-hand/date reference offer?

Blancpain lists this example with a 43.60 mm ceramic case, blue sunburst dial, automatic Calibre 1315, date and seconds, 120-hour (five-day) power reserve, and 30-bar water resistance. The listed configuration has a sail-canvas strap and pin buckle. These details belong to this reference; the 120-hour reserve should not be carried over to the chronograph or calendar models. Blancpain presents this Calibre 1315 version with a black ceramic case, ceramic bracelet, blue sunburst dial, and 120-hour power reserve. Its strap selector also lists NATO and sail-canvas options. That confirms factory configurations shown by Blancpain, not compatibility of third-party bracelets or straps. Official reference 5000A 0140 01S specifications.

How should you interpret the ceramic and water-resistance claims?
Blancpain describes its ceramic as durable, highly scratch-resistant, and hypoallergenic. The brand also says it is nearly five times harder than stainless steel and 25% lighter. Those comparative figures are Blancpain’s claims; independent material testing is not established by the cited product information. Blancpain’s ceramic feature page.
Blancpain states 30 bar water resistance for the new ceramic diver models. That rating is not a substitute for checking the exact reference, the watch’s condition, and its service status before water use. A complex luxury watch that has aged or been damaged should not be assumed ready for diving solely because its original specification gives a depth-related rating.
