The BOVET Récital 28 Prowess 1 lets its wearer configure the 24 world-time city rollers for four seasonal timekeeping periods: UTC, American Summer Time (AST), European and American Summer Time (EAS), and European Winter Time (EWT). The wearer selects a setting by pressing the sapphire cabochon on the crown; BOVET says the rollers turn 90 degrees. It is a manually selected mechanical arrangement, not a watch that detects local daylight-saving changes and switches itself.
How the Récital 28 handles daylight saving time
Most conventional world-time displays use fixed offsets from a reference time. When a region changes its seasonal offset, a city’s displayed relationship to that reference can be off by an hour until the display is adjusted. The Récital 28 addresses this by giving each of its 24 world-time rollers four positions. BOVET describes the system as a way to represent different seasonal arrangements, rather than relying on one fixed city-to-UTC offset year-round.
The four settings are UTC, AST, EAS, and EWT. BOVET’s product and savoir-faire descriptions explain that the wearer presses the sapphire cabochon on the crown to rotate the rollers by 90 degrees. This is a manual choice: the description does not say the watch identifies a location’s rules, follows a calendar, or changes the rollers automatically on a local transition date.
BOVET frames the Récital 28 as a “world’s first” and says fixed-offset world timers can show the wrong time during seasonal changes. Those are the manufacturer’s claims, not an independently established industry-wide finding. BOVET’s product page also gives its own explanation of how widespread daylight saving is; its current savoir-faire page uses a different broad characterization. Neither should be treated here as a verified, precise count of countries or a universal assessment of local time laws.

What the four settings mean in practice
The four labels are BOVET’s names for the roller configurations. The watch does not eliminate the need to know which configuration applies to a city at a given time. Daylight-saving rules differ by jurisdiction and can change; the owner must choose the appropriate setting rather than expect the mechanism to infer it.
- UTC: the baseline setting named by BOVET.
- AST: American Summer Time.
- EAS: European and American Summer Time.
- EWT: European Winter Time.
BOVET describes 25 four-sided rollers in total: 24 for world time and one additional roller used in the calendar system. The seasonal setting concerns the 24 city rollers; it is not an automatic worldwide database of current civil-time rules.

Complications and display
The Récital 28 Prowess 1 combines its roller-based world time with a perpetual calendar and an expanded flying tourbillon. Its listed functions include:
- World time on 24 rollers, configurable to UTC, AST, EAS, or EWT.
- Perpetual calendar with retrograde date on rollers, plus month and leap-year indicators on rollers.
- Day indication on a disk.
- Hours and minutes, seconds on the expanded flying tourbillon, and a power-reserve indicator.
- Function isolator.
BOVET describes a “Rays of Light” hand engraving. The brand also says the expanded tourbillon cage has 62 components, including 39 new components, weighs 0.35 grams, and that all 744 movement components are hand-finished. These are manufacturer-published figures.

In an announcement dated 13 June 2024, BOVET said annual production would be eight pieces, in 18K red gold, 950 platinum, and Grade 5 titanium. The figure is the brand’s reported production rate, not an independently audited total. The same announcement said development took more than five years.

BOVET also reported that the Récital 28 Prowess 1 received Robb Report’s “Watch of the Year” recognition in its 36th annual Best of the Best Awards. This award information is reported by BOVET in that announcement.

The standout idea is not automatic time-zone correction but a mechanical display that can be deliberately reconfigured for four seasonal patterns. That makes the watch most compelling to a collector interested in an unusual world-time mechanism, a perpetual calendar, and haute horlogerie finishing. Its 46.3 mm case and 17.85 mm thickness are substantial, while the eight-piece annual production reported by BOVET places it firmly in limited-production territory.

Because local seasonal rules do not all change on the same dates or follow the same pattern, the wearer still needs to select the relevant setting knowingly. BOVET’s published descriptions establish the roller operation and four modes, but do not establish independently tested accuracy across every jurisdiction or transition date.
