Breguet’s 2025 Type XX Chronographe 2075 is a manually wound, 38.3mm flyback chronograph in 18k Breguet gold, inspired by a 1955 civilian Type XX. It comes in two distinct versions: a regular-production black-dial model with a 15-minute counter, and a silver-dial edition limited to 250 numbered pieces with a 30-minute counter. Their reported U.S. launch prices were $43,500 and $45,200, respectively—not current retail quotes.
What the Breguet Type XX Chronographe 2075 is
The 2075 was announced in 2025 for Breguet’s 250th anniversary. Its 38.3mm proportions and gold construction evoke a civilian Type XX from 1955, serial number 1780. The release also marks 70 years since Breguet’s first solid-gold Type XX chronograph, as noted by Time+Tide.
The name matters: Breguet’s history distinguishes the military TYPE 20, specified by the French Defense Ministry in the early 1950s and approved in 1954, from civilian models called TYPE XX. A flyback chronograph lets the wearer reset and restart timing with one press of the lower pusher, useful for taking successive measurements. Breguet explains the history and function in its official Type XX history.
Black versus silver: what changes
The two references share the gold case and flyback function, but differ in dial material, counter interval, movement calibre, strap color, and production status.

The counter distinction is functional as well as visual: the black model records elapsed minutes on a 15-minute scale, while the silver version uses a 30-minute counter. Both are hand-wound movements operating at 5 Hz, with a reported 60-hour power reserve. The launch specifications and prices were reported by Time and Watches and Time+Tide.
Case, movement, and published specifications
Both references use a 38.3mm 18k Breguet-gold case. Time+Tide lists a 13.1mm thickness and 50 metres of water resistance; these are published specifications, not independent measurements. The 50-metre figure should not be read as a dive-watch rating. No date is shown on the dial, and the manually wound construction is central to the 2075’s character.

- Silver-tone watch featuring left-handed crown and black dial with 1/20-second chronograph function, slide-rotating inner bezel, and date window
- 45.5 mm stainless steel case with mineral dial window
- Quartz movement with analog display
- Stainless steel band featuring fold-over push-button clasp with safety
- Water resistant to 100 m (330 ft): In general, suitable for swimming and snorkeling, but not scuba diving
The 7278 and 7279 calibres are related in broad terms—both are hand-wound, 5 Hz flyback chronographs with a stated 60-hour reserve—but the references are not interchangeable dial variants: their different minute counters correspond to their different calibres.
Launch prices and availability
At the 2025 launch, Time+Tide reported U.S. prices of US$43,500 for the black reference and US$45,200 for the silver. Time and Watches reported launch prices of CHF 36,500 / €43,400 for black and CHF 38,000 / €45,200 for silver. These are dated launch figures, not current quotes; check Breguet or a retailer for present local pricing and stock. The silver model’s 250-piece limit describes edition size, not whether examples remain available.

Which version makes more sense?
Choose the black reference if
- You prefer a dark, high-contrast dial and a 15-minute chronograph counter.
- You want the regular-production version rather than a numbered limited edition.
- The black gradient calfskin strap suits your preferred look.
Choose the silver reference if
- You prefer a 925 silver dial and the 30-minute counter.
- You value a numbered 250-piece edition, while recognizing that limited production does not establish present availability or resale value.
- The blue gradient calfskin strap is more to your taste.
Both retain the same headline case size, material, and flyback operation. The choice is therefore mainly about dial character, counter scale, and edition status—not a different case proposition.

The 2075 should not be treated as simply a smaller version of every contemporary Type XX. It is manually wound and gold-cased, with no date and either a 15- or 30-minute counter depending on reference. The 2023 generation is larger and automatic. Compare winding style, case dimensions, date and dial layout, metal, counter arrangement, and price individually; this review does not establish a full specification-by-specification comparison with every current Type XX model.

Review verdict
Zach Blass of Time+Tide said he loved both watches and could not choose between them when holding them side by side, while also noting that the price grounds his budget. That is one reviewer’s personal response, not evidence of broader buyer consensus. The useful takeaway is that the two editions make a genuinely legible choice: regular-production black with a 15-minute counter, or limited silver with a 30-minute counter, in the same compact gold flyback format.
The commemorative caseback also connects the watch to the Breguet 19 aircraft’s 1930 Paris-to-New York flight by Costes and Bellonte. The launch report says the journey took just over 37 hours, from September 1 to 2; that is historical context, not a watch performance claim.
