What is the Bulgari Aluminium Amerigo Vespucci Special Edition?
Reference 103702 is Bulgari’s Aluminium GMT tribute to the Amerigo Vespucci. Bulgari’s official product listing calls it the “Bvlgari Aluminium Amerigo Vespucci Special Edition”; the reference number distinguishes it from other Aluminium GMT editions. Bulgari’s product page identifies it as an automatic watch with hours, minutes, seconds, date and second-time-zone indication.
How the GMT function works
The central GMT hand shows a second time zone against the dial’s 24-hour outer scale. Bulgari Japan says the GMT hand can be adjusted independently using the titanium crown, so it can be set separately from the main time display. The date sits at 3 o’clock, and the hands and markers are luminous.
Design and materials
The 40 mm case is aluminum, with a black rubber bezel and bracelet. The crown and caseback are titanium. Bulgari Japan describes the black-and-yellow 24-hour scale as a reference to the ship’s gold plating and dark railings; the yellow seconds hand continues the color accent. The caseback bears the ship’s name and motto, along with the individual limited-edition number.

The Amerigo Vespucci connection
Bulgari presents the watch as a tribute to the Italian Navy’s training ship Amerigo Vespucci. The brand’s video description says the watch was unveiled aboard the ship in Naples and gives the ship’s motto as “Not he who begins, but he who perseveres.” The engraving and palette make that nautical link visible without changing the watch’s core Aluminium GMT layout.
