“Bulgari Octo Finissimo Automatic limited edition” does not point to one watch. The two best-documented candidates are the 103717, a 50-piece, US-exclusive yellow-gold edition with a brown dial, and the 103672, a 200-piece titanium 10th-anniversary “Sketch” edition. A separate 50-piece Phillips collaboration also exists. This guide separates them so you don’t credit one watch with another’s specifications. It is based on published specifications and an auction record, not hands-on testing.
Which limited edition do you mean?
Check the reference number, case material, dial and edition inscription before relying on any spec. The table shows what the cited sources state for each edition.
| Detail | 103717 | 103672 |
|---|---|---|
| Edition | 50 pieces, exclusive to the United States; marks the 50th anniversary of Bulgari’s first US boutique (Bulgari US) | 200 pieces, 10th-anniversary edition (Phillips, 2023) |
| Case | 40 mm, 18 kt yellow gold, satin-polished, 6.40 mm thick | 40 mm, titanium; total case thickness not stated in the Phillips extract |
| Movement | BVL 138 automatic micro-rotor; hours, minutes, small seconds | BVL 138 automatic; movement 2.23 mm thick |
| Power reserve | 65 hours (Bulgari) | 60 hours (Phillips) |
| Water resistance | 100 m (Bulgari) | not stated in the source |
| Dial and bracelet | Brown sunray-lacquered dial; yellow-gold bracelet; transparent caseback | “Sketch” design; dial and bracelet details not stated in the source |
The 6.40 mm figure is the whole case; 2.23 mm is the movement alone. They are not comparable, and the 103672’s case thickness shouldn’t be inferred from the movement.
Reference 103717: yellow gold for the US
Bulgari’s US page positions this as an anniversary piece for its first American boutique. The gold case, brown sunray dial and gold bracelet make it a dressier, warmer take on the Octo’s faceted geometry. The 65-hour reserve is a notch above the 60 hours quoted for the 103672. Water resistance of 100 m is listed on the same page. Specifications come from Bulgari’s US listing, so check regional information if you’re outside the US, though the edition is US-exclusive in the first place.

Reference 103672: titanium 10th anniversary “Sketch”
Phillips catalogued this 40 mm titanium watch in its Geneva Sessions Fall 2023 sale. It is a larger run at 200 pieces and uses the same BVL 138 family of movement. Phillips recorded a sale at CHF 17,780. That is one dated transaction, not a current valuation or promise of resale value.
The Phillips collaboration is a different watch
Hodinkee covers a 50-piece Octo Finissimo made with Phillips, with vintage-inspired touches on the dial (Hodinkee). Don’t assign it the 103672’s or 103717’s specs.
Rank #2
- Round watch featuring corrugated unidirectional bezel, luminous hands/markers, and magnified date window at 3 o'clock
- 40 mm, Length: 210mm, 23k gold-plated stainless steel case with mineral dial window. Movement Caliber: NH35A
- Japanese automatic movement with analog display
- Gold & Stainless steel tone bracelet with foldover clasp with safety closure
- Water resistant to 200 m (660 ft): In general, suitable for professional marine activity and serious surface water sports, but not scuba diving.
Movement context
BVL 138 is a micro-rotor automatic. Hodinkee’s introduction of the original model describes a platinum micro-rotor and a 60-hour reserve (Hodinkee). Bulgari’s stainless-steel 104163 listing also gives 60 hours and a 40 mm case 6.40 mm thick (Bulgari). So the 103717’s 65 hours is a figure specific to its listing; quote reserves per reference, not per family.
Which one suits whom
- 103717: for buyers who want a precious-metal, dressy Octo with a brown dial, a very small run and a US-boutique story.
- 103672: for those who prefer a lighter titanium case, the design-led “Sketch” theme and a documented auction history.
- Phillips edition: for collectors drawn to vintage-style dial design and the auction-house connection.
What this review can’t tell you
No hands-on wear, clasp, accuracy or durability testing underlies this piece, so comfort and timekeeping aren’t judged here. For any purchase, match the reference to the caseback and edition numbering, confirm condition and papers, and use an authenticator or authorized service for a high-value mechanical watch. Limited editions may no longer be in new retail stock, so pre-owned availability and pricing vary and should be checked directly.
