Every Super Seville discussed here uses Bulova’s Precisionist quartz concept, with a high-frequency quartz resonator and a seconds hand designed to move smoothly rather than make the more obvious one-second jumps associated with many conventional quartz watches.
Precisionist movement: what the specifications mean
262 kHz quartz, not a mechanical sweep
Bulova specifies a 262 kHz operating frequency and eight jewels. The frequency is part of the quartz regulation system; it does not turn the watch into a mechanical movement. The sweeping appearance comes from the motor’s hand-driving behavior, while the timekeeping remains battery-powered quartz.

Bulova advertises accuracy “to seconds per year” and increased resistance to temperature changes. No independent accuracy measurement or temperature test for the Super Seville was established in the available material, and Bulova does not publish an exact tolerance such as ±N seconds annually on the cited pages. Treat the phrase as a claimed performance level, not a guaranteed result for every watch in every environment.
Model differences you should check before buying
Do not treat “Super Seville” as one universal specification. Confirm the reference on the national Bulova product page, because dimensions, color, dial construction and pricing differ.

Size, wear and finishing
The 35 mm 96A344 is the smaller documented option. The 37.5 mm references are wider without being oversized by contemporary standards, but the integrated case-and-bracelet profile can wear broader than the diameter alone suggests. Compare the full case shape and bracelet articulation with your wrist rather than relying only on the width number.
Finishes range from gold-tone or silver-tone stainless steel to stone dials with natural variation. A Magnesite or other stone dial is inherently individual: veining is part of the material rather than a uniform printed pattern. Sapphire crystal is listed for the documented 97B223 and 96A344 references.
Water resistance: keep the rating conservative
The cited Super Seville pages describe the watches as splash resistant. Bulova Canada’s practical wording for 97B237—“Face-Washing, Sweat, Raindrops, etc.”—supports incidental daily exposure, not swimming, snorkeling or diving. Do not borrow a higher water-resistance rating from another watch in Bulova’s broader Precisionist lineup; those are different models.

Integrated bracelet and service considerations
The bracelet is part of the Super Seville’s visual identity, but the listed 10 mm and 11 mm lug-width measurements do not prove that a conventional aftermarket strap will fit an integrated case. Do not order a generic strap on lug width alone; obtain reference-specific compatibility confirmation from Bulova or a specialist.

Its 35 mm case is the clearest choice for a more compact fit. The white Magnesite dial adds natural stone character, so inspect the actual piece or seller photographs if the veining matters to you.

Choose 97B223 for the classic gold-tone configuration
