Van der Klaauw Grand Planetarium Eccentric Meteorite is a 2025, meteorite-cased variant of the brand’s mechanical planetarium watch. Its aventurine dial shows the Sun, all eight planets and Earth’s Moon; a meteorite ring between Mars and Jupiter represents the asteroid belt and, according to CVDK, contains fragments of Martian nakhlite. CVDK set a maximum edition of three and reported that two had been made at the time of its French-language release. The reported EUR 580,000 is an indicated price—not confirmation of a current offer or availability.
What makes the Meteorite edition different?
CVDK announced the Grand Planetarium Eccentric Meteorite on 18 March 2025. It shares the Grand Planetarium Eccentric’s central planetarium concept, but the Meteorite edition is distinguished by its meteorite case and a meteorite ring set into an aventurine-glass dial. The brand says the ring, positioned between Mars and Jupiter to represent the asteroid belt, contains fragments of Martian nakhlite. These material details are described in CVDK’s 2025 press release.
CVDK says the Meteorite case uses 47 g of meteorite, taken from 1.09 kg of source material. The brand also says the meteorite fell to Earth 50,000 years ago; that is a manufacturer claim, not an independently verified geological date. The 47 g figure describes the case, not the weight of the complete watch.
What does the planetarium display?
The dial places a Sun at its centre and shows Mercury, Venus, Earth and its Moon, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune moving around it. CVDK describes the display as operating in real time. The maker calls the mechanism the Eccentric Planetarium and describes its representation of the eight planets as unique; that superlative is the brand’s claim, not the result of independent comparative testing.

On the standard Grand Planetarium Eccentric Manufacture page, CVDK gives the following display periods. These are the maker’s stated periods for the watch display, not independently measured accuracy results for the Meteorite edition.

The Earth’s Moon is included in the display, but CVDK’s standard-model page does not state a separate lunar period in the cited specifications. The same page gives a count of 3,338 gear teeth for the standard Grand Planetarium Eccentric Manufacture. It is useful context for the complexity of the model family, but it is not a separate teardown or verified tooth count for this Meteorite watch. See CVDK’s standard-model page.

How does it compare with the standard Grand Planetarium Eccentric?
The standard Manufacture model’s published specifications should not automatically be treated as a complete specification sheet for the Meteorite edition. CVDK’s Meteorite press material highlights the meteorite case, aventurine dial, asteroid-belt ring with nakhlite fragments and platinum folding clasp; the standard-model page supplies additional movement and configuration details.

The standard-model specifications above come from CVDK’s product and collection information; Meteorite details come from the Meteorite press release. CVDK and Foundation Haute Horlogerie give 44 mm for the model or family, but confirm the exact Meteorite edition’s case diameter before relying on that figure.

How many were made, and is one available?
CVDK describes the Meteorite edition as limited to a maximum of three pieces, depending on the availability and quality of the raw meteorite. Its French-language release said two pieces had been produced as of that release. That is a dated production statement, not a current inventory count, and it does not establish whether either watch is for sale today. CVDK’s French-language release is the source for the two-piece status; the maker’s English-language press material states the maximum edition size.
To establish present availability, ask CVDK or an authorized seller directly whether a specific piece is available, its provenance and delivery terms, and whether the seller is offering a new watch or a previously owned one. The published edition limit alone cannot answer those questions.

What does the EUR 580,000 figure mean?
CVDK’s 2025 press release and Foundation Haute Horlogerie report EUR 580,000 as the indicated price. It should not be read as a verified transaction price, a live quote, or proof that a watch is currently available. The cited CVDK and FHH pages do not clearly establish whether that amount includes VAT. Confirm the current price, applicable taxes and any other charges for the market and offer in question with the seller. See Foundation Haute Horlogerie’s listing.
Does it come with a watch winder?
CVDK’s collection information describes a Collection of Astronomical Masterpieces presentation box fitted with a removable Swiss Kubik winder. The cited page does not confirm that this Meteorite edition includes that box, nor does it identify a winder model as compatible with the watch. Treat a winder as an accessory to verify—not an included item—when discussing a particular offer with CVDK or an authorized seller.
