The 200-meter figure is the manufacturer’s water-resistance rating, not a promise that the watch can be worn to a depth of 200 meters. Timex’s activity guide associates its 200-meter category with recreational scuba diving. Its EU guidance distinguishes that from 50 meters, listed for light swimming, and 100 meters, listed for swimming, snorkeling, and surfing. Timex’s water-resistance ratings guide describes those activity categories.

Timex describes the watch’s screw-down crown and screw-on case back as features that reinforce water resistance. Those design details do not establish whether an individual watch’s seals are currently sound.
What should you do before wearing one in water?
- Make sure the crown is fully secured before exposure to water.
- Do not press the watch’s buttons underwater. Timex states: “To maintain water resistance, do not press any buttons while underwater.”
- Be cautious with a watch that has been damaged, opened for service, or has an unknown maintenance history. The product specification cannot verify its present water resistance; ask Timex about the specific watch if you need confirmation.
Timex’s general degree-of-water-resistance chart also warns against pressing buttons underwater.
