Choose the Cartier Roadster if you prefer a streamlined tonneau-shaped case and automotive-inspired details; choose the Cartier Pasha if you prefer a round case, four prominent Arabic numerals and a chained crown cap. Neither is a universal winner. Size, movement, materials and water resistance depend on the exact reference, so compare specific watches before deciding.
How the Roadster and Pasha look different
Cartier Roadster: streamlined, with automotive cues
The Roadster’s tonneau-shaped case gives it a more elongated outline than the Pasha’s round one. Cartier highlights details including a speedometer-inspired dial, conical crown, headlight-shaped date magnifier and visible rivets. The collection originally launched in 2002 and has returned to Cartier’s watchmaking lineup, according to Cartier’s Roadster collection page.

Cartier Pasha: round, with a distinctive crown cap
The Pasha’s signature design combines a round case with four large Arabic numerals and a screw-down crown cap attached by a small chain. Cartier describes these as collection codes on its Pasha collection page. The dates refer to different things: Cartier says the Pasha collection launched in the 1980s, while its product page says the design was inspired by a round wristwatch introduced into Cartier’s collection in 1943.
Representative specifications: compare references, not just names
These examples illustrate the collections, not every Roadster or Pasha. The cited watches differ in material and size, so their specifications are not a like-for-like performance comparison.

The Roadster medium figures are listed on Cartier’s Roadster page; the Pasha steel automatic and rose-gold example details are listed on Cartier’s Pasha page. A dimension stated only as 41 mm does not provide the Pasha’s full length or thickness, and the cited Roadster dimensions alone do not tell you how it will sit on your wrist.
Which one is likely to suit your style?
Pick the Roadster if you want
- An elongated, tonneau-shaped profile rather than a conventional round outline.
- Automotive-inspired dial and case details that give the watch a more technical visual character.
- A representative medium steel model with documented dimensions of 42.5 × 34.92 mm and automatic caliber 1899 MC.
Pick the Pasha if you want
- A round case with four prominent Arabic numerals.
- The recognizable screw-down crown cap secured by a small chain.
- A representative 41 mm steel automatic example with caliber 1847 MC.
These are preference cues, not fit guarantees. Try the exact reference if possible: compare case width, length, thickness, lug shape and how the watch rests on your wrist. The two cited examples’ measurements do not establish which will feel smaller or more comfortable.

Check the exact watch before buying
Match the configuration
Both collections include different sizes, materials and configurations. Compare steel with steel, or clearly account for a difference such as rose gold; otherwise, you may be judging the design and specifications of unlike versions. Confirm the reference number and the listed movement and features for the actual watch being offered.
Read water resistance as a model-specific rating
The cited Roadster medium and Pasha rose-gold example are each listed at 10 bar. That rating should not be generalized to every watch in either collection. Check the exact reference’s rating and Cartier’s guidance before exposing a watch to water; a collection name alone does not establish suitability for a particular activity.

Confirm strap and bracelet compatibility
Cartier documents QuickSwitch interchangeable straps or bracelets for the cited Roadster and Pasha examples. That does not mean every QuickSwitch accessory fits every watch. Verify compatibility with the exact reference before ordering a replacement or alternate strap.

Once you know which design speaks to you, use the exact reference—not the collection name alone—to judge fit and specifications.
