It is also a substantial watch: 42 mm across, 15.4 mm thick and 49.3 mm lug-to-lug. Its depth rating and helium release valve are designed for demanding diving conditions, but the rating is guidance—not a guarantee that any individual watch is safe for a particular dive.
What is the Christopher Ward C60 Elite 1000?
The C60 Elite 1000 is an automatic dive watch with a titanium case, a ceramic unidirectional bezel, a screw-down crown and an automatic helium release valve. Its specification pairs a deep-diving rating with a lighter case material, while its dimensions make it a substantial watch on the wrist.
The figures below are specifications in Christopher Ward’s C60 Elite 1000 Owner’s Handbook, not independent measurements. The handbook’s publication year is not stated.
| Specification | Manufacturer’s figure |
|---|---|
| Case material | Grade 2 titanium |
| Case diameter | 42 mm |
| Case height | 15.4 mm |
| Lug-to-lug | 49.3 mm |
| Weight | 77 g for the watch head; 133 g on a full 21 cm bracelet |
| Water resistance | 100 ATM (1,000 metres) |
| Movement | Sellita SW220 (COSC), automatic |
| Functions | Day-date, central hacking seconds |
| Power reserve | 38 hours maximum |
| Frequency and timing tolerance | 28,800 vibrations per hour (4 Hz); -4/+6 seconds per day |
| Strap width | 22 mm |
How large is it, and how does the titanium affect wear?
The 42 mm diameter is only one part of the fit. At 15.4 mm thick and 49.3 mm lug-to-lug, the case has considerable height and length, so compare those dimensions with a watch that already fits your wrist. The handbook’s 77 g figure is for the watch head, not the complete bracelet configuration; it lists 133 g for a full bracelet sized to 21 cm.

- 🌊 1000M Water Resistance: Pressure-tested for depths of 1000 meters, perfect for professional divers and water enthusiasts.
- ⏱️ Japanese Caliber NH36 Automatic Movement: Known for accuracy and reliability, crafted with precision by expert watchmakers.
- 💎 Sapphire Crystal: Slightly domed for enhanced visibility and scratch resistance, magnifying the dial for clear reading
- 🌟 316L Stainless Steel: Corrosion and rust-proof, offering long-lasting durability and a polished finish.
- 🛠️ Helium-Safe Valve: Fully functional Helium-release valve, ideal for deep-sea saturation diving.
Titanium helps keep the head weight down relative to what the same dimensions might suggest, but the handbook does not establish how a particular wrist will experience the watch. Bracelet, strap, fit and wrist shape all matter.
What is the water resistance of the C60 Elite 1000?
Christopher Ward specifies 100 ATM (1,000 metres) and classifies 100 ATM under “Professional deep sea diving” in the handbook. The same handbook says to treat water-resistance ratings as guidelines. It warns that arm movement while swimming and sudden impacts during diving or water sports can increase pressure exposure, while rapid temperature changes in baths, showers or saunas can affect seals. It also instructs owners to ensure the screw-down crown is fully tightened before water use. These cautions mean the rating should not be read as a guarantee for a particular watch or dive.

What the helium release valve does
The helium release valve is for prolonged deep-pressure exposure, including saturation diving. According to the manufacturer’s explanation, helium in breathing gas can pass through a watch’s seals under pressure. During ascent, pressure inside the watch can become higher than the surrounding pressure; the automatic valve opens at a critical differential to release helium. Its one-way design is intended to prevent water entering the watch. This is a specialist feature, not a substitute for checking the watch’s condition and following appropriate diving procedures.
What movement and functions does it have?
The handbook identifies the movement as a 26-jewel Sellita SW220 (COSC) automatic calibre. It provides day and date displays, central hacking seconds and a maximum power reserve of 38 hours. The listed frequency is 28,800 vibrations per hour (4 Hz), with a timing tolerance of -4/+6 seconds per day.

Winding and setting the calendar
For a watch that has stopped after being unused, the handbook recommends around 20 manual winding revolutions. For quick calendar correction, it describes clockwise adjustment for the date and counter-clockwise adjustment for the day. Avoid quick-setting the date between 20:00 and 02:00, when the gearing is aligning to change the date.
What size strap does the C60 Elite 1000 take?
The handbook lists a 22 mm strap width and shows quick-release pins for removing and refitting straps or bracelets. That gives you the nominal width to search for, but it does not confirm that every aftermarket strap will fit. Check the actual interface, strap thickness, end shape and buckle compatibility before buying.

What should owners know about servicing and guarantee terms?
The handbook recommends service every three to four years. It describes a 60-day return period and a 60-month movement guarantee, and states that third-party retailer service or repair voids the guarantee it describes. Those are handbook terms, not confirmation of the terms that apply to every country, purchase date or pre-owned watch. Verify the policy for the specific transaction with Christopher Ward or the seller before relying on it.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. Is the C60 Elite 1000 the same as the C60 Trident Elite 1000?
No. The names refer to variants that should not be conflated. GPHG’s historical listing identifies the earlier C60 Trident Elite 1000 as a 300-piece limited edition in 2019. That limited-edition count does not establish the production quantity or current availability of the C60 Elite 1000.

What to check before buying
- Confirm the exact model and configuration; do not assume historical details for the Trident Elite apply to the C60 Elite 1000.
- Assess fit using thickness and lug-to-lug as well as diameter, and distinguish the head weight from the bracelet weight.
- Decide whether you need the helium valve’s saturation-diving use case; the depth rating alone does not make it necessary for every diver.
- For a replacement strap, verify more than the nominal 22 mm width.
- Check current price, stock and applicable warranty terms directly with the seller or manufacturer; the handbook specifications do not establish live availability or pricing.
