CIGA Design presents the watch as the inaugural model in its Chinese Zodiac series. The design places a golden dragon above the tourbillon, set against a super-black dial, with hands that the company says are set with seven natural diamonds. CIGA describes the dragon as symbolizing “the commencement of a new year, with the anticipation of good fortune and auspicious blessings.” That is the brand’s design language, rather than a technical claim.
The dial’s darkness is meant to make the dragon and hands stand out. CIGA claims the dial absorbs “over 99%” of light, but its product page does not provide a test method or independent validation for that figure. Treat it as a manufacturer claim, not a verified comparative measurement.
A Reddit owner writing around the 2024 launch said the black dial seemed to absorb light and made the golden dragon and diamond-set hands visually prominent. That owner also reported smudges on arrival and some inconsistency in the lettering or infill. These are observations from one watch and one owner, not evidence of typical finish quality.

These are manufacturer-published specifications. The owner’s 2024 post reported several matching figures, including the 40-hour reserve, frequency and 3 ATM rating, but that does not amount to independent verification. The owner called the movement “Peacock Tourbillon”; CIGA’s current listing identifies it as the customized CD-06, so the official designation is the safer reference.
How legible is the dark dial?
The visual contrast is part of the appeal, but a dark, theatrical dial may not be as immediately readable as a conventional high-contrast display. A commenter on the owner’s post described the black watch as “hard to reed” (sic). The owner replied with guidance on following the hands; the exchange signals a real question for prospective buyers, but it is not a controlled legibility assessment.

Because the dial, hands and tourbillon arrangement are distinctive, try to view the watch in person or inspect clear images in the lighting where you expect to wear it. Pay particular attention to whether you can identify the hour and minute hands quickly, rather than judging only the dragon’s visual impact. The 45 mm square footprint and 13.7 mm thickness also make wrist fit worth checking before purchase.
What one owner reported about wearing it
In a post around the 2024 launch, one owner said the dragon rotated steadily over roughly 40 seconds, described the case as hefty, and found that it cleaned up after fingerprints. The same owner mentioned smudges on arrival and unevenness in some lettering or infill. Those comments are firsthand impressions from a single example, not a timing test, quality survey or evidence of how the watch will perform over time.

CIGA’s current store listing shows a price of $3,299 and marks the watch “Sold out.” Availability can change, so check the live listing rather than assuming the model is currently purchasable. The listing calls it a limited edition with personalization but does not state a production count.

The frequently repeated figure of 365 units comes from the Reddit owner’s launch-period report, as does the reported price of 16,888 RMB (approximately $2,300 at the time). These are that owner’s reports about the 2024 launch, not confirmed current manufacturer terms.
Descriptions of what comes with the watch differ:
- The localized official product description specifies a Nile crocodile leather strap.
- The current store package list says the box includes a push-button hidden-clasp 316L steel bracelet and warranty card.
- The 2024 owner said their own watch arrived with a black crocodile leather strap.
Do not assume any one of these configurations applies to every market or variant. Confirm the included strap or bracelet, personalization, warranty and exact sale terms with the seller before ordering.
