Today’s Promaster Diver examples are rated to 200 m, while the Professional Diver BN7020-09E is rated to 1,000 m for saturation diving. Citizen described the modern 200 m BN0220 family as a design homage to the 1982 watch; that connection does not carry over the original’s depth rating.
Which Citizen watch is actually rated to 1,300 m?
Citizen’s 2021 announcement gives the original 1982 Professional Diver a 1,300 m water-resistance rating. It identifies later Eco-Drive Diver models as 200 m homages to that design—not as 1,300 m successors. The modern 1,000 m Professional Diver BN7020-09E is a separate model, with its own rating and saturation-diving specification. Citizen’s 2021 announcement and its Promaster lineup distinguish the historical watch from the current categories.
How the 200 m and 1,000 m options compare
| Watch | Rating and category | Key listed details |
|---|---|---|
| Original 1982 Professional Diver | 1,300 m; historical model | Citizen’s 2021 announcement identifies this as the rating of the original watch. |
| Promaster Diver BN0150-28E | 200 m / 20 bar; scuba-diving rating | E168 Eco-Drive, 44 mm stainless-steel case, 20 mm lug width, polyurethane strap, anti-reflective mineral crystal, date, luminous hands and markers. |
| Eco-Drive Diver BN0220 family | 200 m; modern design homage | Citizen’s 2021 release connects the family to the 1982 Professional Diver design. Check the precise reference and regional listing for variant details. |
| Professional Diver BN7020-09E | 1,000 m; saturation-diving water resistance | J210 Eco-Drive, Super Titanium case, sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating; 52.5 mm wide, 22.2 mm thick and 180 g on Citizen Japan’s listing. |
Specifications vary by reference. The BN0150-28E details are from Citizen US’s product listing; the BN7020-09E details are from Citizen Japan’s listing. These figures do not establish a hands-on performance ranking between the watches.
What the ratings do—and do not—tell you
A 200 m marking, a saturation-diving specification and a historical 1,300 m rating are not interchangeable descriptions. Citizen lists the BN0150-28E at 200 m/20 bar for scuba diving. It describes the BN7020-09E as a 1,000 m saturation-diving watch. The fact that the original 1982 Professional Diver was rated to 1,300 m does not make either modern model suitable for that depth.
#1 Best Overall
- Iconic Promaster watches with advanced functions designed to venture to the deepest depths.
- 3 Hand, Date
- Silver-Tone Stainless Steel
- Luminous Hands and Markers and Anti-Reflective Mineral Crystal
- Featuring our Eco-Drive technology – powered by light, any light. 200 Meters Water Resistant and 5 Year Limited Warranty
The BN0150-28E product page also calls the watch “ISO-compliant.” That wording is a separate claim from its depth rating; it should not be treated as another way of saying 1,300 m or as evidence that the watch has the BN7020-09E’s saturation-diving specification.
Choosing between the current models
Consider the 200 m BN0150-28E for a more conventional-sized option
Its official US listing gives a 44 mm case, 20 mm lugs, stainless steel, polyurethane strap and E168 light-powered movement. Those dimensions and features may help narrow a fit or feature preference, but case diameter alone does not determine comfort; wrist shape and strap fit matter too.

Consider the BN7020-09E if its saturation-diving specification is the priority
The Japanese listing describes a substantially larger 52.5 mm-wide, 22.2 mm-thick, 180 g watch with a Super Titanium case and sapphire crystal. Citizen states approximately 1.5 years of operation after a full charge for this model. These are specifications for BN7020-09E, not guarantees for other Eco-Drive watches.
Choose the BN0220 family for the design connection, not the old rating
Citizen presented the 200 m BN0220 family as a modern homage to the 1982 Professional Diver. Its historical resemblance is the relevant link; its stated rating is 200 m. Confirm the exact variant’s current specifications and availability in your region before buying.

Eco-Drive and practical ownership
Citizen says the BN0150-28E is powered by light and describes Eco-Drive as eliminating the need to replace watch batteries. That does not mean the energy cell or watch can never need service. For BN7020-09E, Citizen Japan lists approximately 1.5 years of operation after a full charge.
For any model, use its own manual and official product information for operating and care guidance. A depth rating is not a substitute for checking the condition of a watch intended for diving, and no inspection or pressure-test result is established by the product specifications cited here.

Bottom line
There is no current 1,300 m watch among these models. The original 1982 Professional Diver had that historical rating; the modern design-homage divers discussed here are rated to 200 m, and the BN7020-09E Professional Diver is rated to 1,000 m for saturation diving. Match the exact reference and intended use—not the heritage story alone—to the rating and fit you need.
