The percentage depended on the exact reference, country and configuration. Steel, two-tone and precious-metal versions of a model did not necessarily move by the same amount, and bracelet choice could change the result.
Which Rolex family increased the most?

Why regional comparisons can be misleading
A 2023 Rolex price is meaningful only when the comparison keeps three variables consistent:
Rank #2
- EVERYDAY GLAMOUR: The Lexington analog watch epitomizes everyday glamour with its gold finish and sparkling pavé accents. Made entirely of stainless steel, this mini timepiece boasts a round face with a beveled topring & a matching bracelet strap
- PRECISE TIMEKEEPING: This Michael Kors Watch features a 26mm case, 14mm band width, scratch resistant mineral crystal, accurate quartz movement with 3-hand analog display, imported
- ELEGANT DESIGN: This women's watch features a round gold stainless steel case, with a gold dial
- COMFORTABLE FIT: Petite gold women’s watch with durable stainless steel bracelet; links can be removed for a customized fit
- SWIM-READY DURABILITY: This bracelet watch for women is water resistant up to 50m (165ft), wearable for short periods of recreational swimming and showering but not diving or snorkeling; 5 ATM
- Geography and currency: Italian euro prices are not U.S. dollar MSRPs. Local taxes, pricing policy and currency conditions differ.
- Material: Steel, Rolesor (steel and gold) and full-gold watches can receive different percentage adjustments.
- Configuration: Bracelet, bezel, dial and exact reference can change the list price. The GMT-Master II 126710, for example, was listed at €10,750 on Oyster and €10,950 on Jubilee in Italy.
Do not merge a 2022 reference with a redesigned 2023 reference without identifying the reference number. Nor should a euro figure be presented as a U.S. retail price.

The cited specialist reports connected Rolex’s pricing environment with strong demand, constrained supply, inflation and a cooling post-pandemic secondary market. Those observations describe the period around the 2023 adjustment; they are not a forecast of today’s resale price or availability.
No official Rolex explanation for the size or structure of the 2023 increase was identified in the cited coverage. The published figures establish what changed, not a confirmed corporate rationale.
List price versus the price a buyer actually pays
- List price is the manufacturer’s official reference price for the stated market and configuration.
- Authorized-dealer stock, allocation practices and waiting time can vary substantially, especially for sought-after sports models.
- Sales taxes and other local charges may affect the checkout total.
- Secondary-market premiums or discounts are separate from Rolex’s list price and require current, local verification.
How to read a 2023 Rolex price-list entry
- Identify the exact reference number, such as Submariner 124060 or Daytona 116500LN.
- Confirm the country and currency of the price.
- Record the material and bracelet configuration.
- Check that both the old and new prices refer to the same reference and configuration.
- Calculate the percentage change as (new price − old price) ÷ old price × 100, while retaining the source’s rounding.
- Verify current taxes, availability and market pricing separately; the 2023 list is historical.
The Bottom Line
Rolex’s January 1, 2023 increase was broad but uneven: reported changes ran from 0.4% to 6.6%, with an Italian average of almost 3.5%. Oyster Perpetual rose the most on average, while a steel Submariner was listed at €9,150, a steel Daytona at €14,900 and a steel GMT-Master II at €10,750 on Oyster or €10,950 on Jubilee in Italy. Always compare the same country, currency, reference, material and configuration.
