Its 44 mm case and 15.4 mm thickness make it a substantial watch; whether it works for you depends more on how its lugs sit across your wrist and how much visual presence you want than on circumference alone. Try it on if possible, and check case overhang separately from strap comfort.
What size is the Luminor Destro PAM01732?
Panerai lists the PAM01732 with a 44 mm polished-steel case, 15.4 mm thickness and 124 g weight. It is powered by the hand-wound P.6000 movement, with a three-day power reserve and stated water resistance of 30 bar (approximately 300 metres). Those are product specifications, not a measure of wrist suitability. Panerai’s PAM01732 product page lists the details.

The watch is supplied with a brown calfskin strap and a blue rubber strap, both in STD 24/22, with a 22 mm buckle. A strap that adjusts comfortably can solve a strap-length problem, but it cannot make an oversized case sit within the wrist’s edges.
Does “Destro” make it smaller?
No. “Destro” refers to the crown-protecting bridge being placed on the left side of the case, allowing the watch to be worn on the right wrist. Panerai describes the arrangement as leaving the diver’s dominant hand free to use instruments such as a compass or depth gauge. It changes the crown layout, not the case’s 44 mm diameter. Panerai’s product description explains the orientation.

How to judge the fit on a smaller wrist
Check the lugs against your wrist’s flat top
Look at the watch straight on while it is centered on your wrist. The key question is whether the lugs extend beyond the flat area at the top. Case diameter alone cannot answer this: lug shape and span affect the footprint, and wrist shape varies even among people with the same circumference.
Hodinkee’s 2026 coverage says the new Luminor cases have short lugs, which may make their footprint more manageable than diameter alone suggests. That is an editorial observation, not a published lug-to-lug measurement for the PAM01732 or a guarantee that it will fit a particular wrist. Hodinkee’s 2026 Luminor coverage provides that context.

Move your wrist and assess the case
Wear it for a few minutes and move your wrist normally. Notice whether the case shifts, presses into the wrist, digs in or catches. Consider thickness and visual presence independently: a watch may feel comfortable but still look bolder than you prefer.

Fasten the supplied strap at a comfortable position and see whether the watch stays secure without being too tight. If the strap does not adjust suitably, ask Panerai or a qualified retailer about shorter options. A strap change can improve how the watch is secured, but it will not resolve lug overhang.

If you are buying remotely
Ask for a straight-on photo of the watch on a wrist similar to yours, and confirm the seller’s return terms before purchasing. Panerai also provides a wrist-sizing guide: read the number aligned with the edges of the sizing strip opening. It helps determine wrist circumference for strap sizing; it is not a chart that predicts whether the case will suit your wrist width or shape.
What do wrist-size reports tell us?
They offer individual impressions, not a dependable minimum wrist size. In a July 2026 Rolex Forums discussion about the PAM01732, one prospective buyer with a 6.5-inch wrist worried about lug overhang. Another participant described wearing a previous 44 mm Luminor on a 6.3-inch flat wrist with custom straps. Those accounts concern different people and, in the second case, a different watch; they do not establish that the PAM01732 fits every 6.3- or 6.5-inch wrist. The July 2026 forum discussion is anecdotal rather than a controlled fit test.

How does it compare with another Luminor Destro?
The related PAM01655 Luminor Destro 8 Giorni is also listed at 44 mm, but it has a different movement and an eight-day power reserve. Its specifications or wearing impressions should not be assumed to apply in full to the PAM01732. Panerai’s PAM01655 product page identifies that model.

If you are comparing the PAM01732 with a smaller watch, focus on lug span relative to your wrist’s flat width, thickness, case shape and strap adjustment—not diameter alone. The final choice also depends on whether you want the prominent Luminor look or prefer a more restrained fit. Panerai does not publish an official wrist-size threshold for this model or a lug-to-lug measurement on the cited product page.
