The DOXA SUB 300 Carbon Divingstar makes the familiar cushion-shaped dive watch in a very different way: a black forged-carbon case and bezel frame a bright yellow dial, while a titanium chamber and screw-down caseback sit inside. DOXA lists the 42.5 mm watch at 45 mm long and 13.4 mm thick. Its appeal is the unusual look and the light wrist feel reported by hands-on reviewers; the trade-off is a premium over steel and none of the traditional heft or metallic finish of a steel SUB 300.
What the Carbon Divingstar is
This is the yellow-dial carbon version of the SUB 300, reference 822.70.361.31—not the steel SUB 300 Divingstar and not the SUB 300T. DOXA’s official product page specifies a forged-carbon case and bezel, a titanium chamber, and a screw-down caseback. The product description also calls out a domed, anti-reflective sapphire crystal.
Forged carbon gives the case a patterned black appearance rather than the uniform metallic surface of steel. The contrast makes the yellow dial the visual focus. Fratello reviewer Balazs Ferenczi noted that the yellow worked well with the black indexes and hands in his own assessment; that is a subjective impression, not a guarantee that the color combination will suit every buyer.
Does it wear too big?
DOXA lists the case at 42.50 mm in diameter, 45.00 mm in length, and 13.40 mm in height. The cushion shape gives it a broad presence, but the 45 mm length is useful context alongside the diameter when estimating how it may sit on a wrist. Dimensions alone cannot predict fit: wrist shape, strap adjustment, and personal preference all matter.

Hands-on accounts describe the watch as notably light and comfortable. Time and Watches reported a weight of 87 g (3.06 oz) for a tested SUB 300 Carbon in its 2021 review, which included Caribbean and Divingstar versions. That is the publication’s reported measurement, not a weight listed on DOXA’s product page, and it should not be assumed to apply to every configuration. Ferenczi also described an exceptionally light, comfortable feel during his own wear and travel. He summed up the practical question with: “You need to see and feel it on your wrist.”
If you are concerned that 42.5 mm will feel too large, try it on if possible. The compact-looking case length may help, while the broad cushion form remains noticeable; the reported lightness changes how it feels, not its physical dimensions.

Carbon Divingstar versus the steel SUB 300 Divingstar
The closest comparison is the steel SUB 300 Divingstar. DOXA lists that model with a 42.5 mm steel case and options for a rubber strap or a beads-of-rice bracelet. Its official product page is the place to check current configurations. The main choice is not simply color: it is a patterned, light-feeling carbon watch on rubber versus a conventional metal case with a bracelet option.

Price comparisons need to be made within the same market and at the same time. DOXA’s regional listings showed USD 4,390 on the US page and EUR 4,190 on the European page on October 8, 2026; these are different markets, not exchange-rate equivalents or universal prices. For historical context only, Fratello reported a 2021 launch-era carbon price of EUR 3,790 and described steel models as around EUR 2,500 depending on configuration. Those dated euro figures should not be treated as current offers or used to calculate today’s premium.

- Choose the Carbon Divingstar if you want the black forged-carbon pattern, the high-contrast yellow dial, and a lighter-wearing take on the SUB 300 design.
- Look closely at the steel model if you prefer a metallic finish, want the option of a beads-of-rice bracelet, or value the more traditional heft of a steel watch.
- Try either version on if case shape and wrist fit are decisive. The listed diameter is the same, but the material and available configurations change the wearing experience.
The Carbon Divingstar is a distinctive alternative rather than a straightforward upgrade for every SUB 300 buyer. Its case material and reported lightness are meaningful differences, but the premium only makes sense if those qualities matter more to you than steel’s familiar finish and bracelet choice. Check DOXA’s regional listing for the price and configuration available where you live.
