What watch is the 1973 limited edition?
The 1973 is a 2010 limited edition of Eterna’s Super KonTiki, identified by reference 1973.41.41.1230. The model name nods to the Kon-Tiki expedition, while “1973” refers to the edition size: Eterna’s launch material says it made 1,973 watches. The number is a production quantity, not a claim that this is a reissue of a watch first released in 1973. Eterna’s launch material, reproduced by Worldtempus on October 2, 2010, describes the period-inspired design and limited run.
The title’s “Team aBlogtoWatch” wording does not establish a separate specification or edition. How the watch wears and reads on paper
Large, substantial proportions
A 44 mm diameter and 13.70 mm thickness put this watch firmly in large-watch territory. Those dimensions suggest a noticeable wrist presence, but dimensions alone cannot establish how it will fit: wrist shape, lug geometry, and the bracelet’s drape matter, and a prospective buyer should try it on if possible.
Period-style dive-watch cues
The design pairs a matte black dial and luminous hands and markers with a rotating bezel whose black aluminum ring carries contrasting metal markings and an orange triangle, according to the launch description. These elements support quick visual separation of dial and bezel, but no independent legibility or lume-duration test is documented here.

Milanese bracelet, with a practical caveat
The polished Milanese bracelet is a distinctive alternative to the solid-link bracelets common on dive watches. Eterna’s launch material says it includes a diving extension and safety clasp. On a pre-owned example, check that both are present and working; bracelet completeness can affect whether the watch suits the intended use and whether the asking price is reasonable.
Movement and water resistance: what the figures mean
Eterna lists the ETA 2824-2 as an automatic movement with a 38-hour power reserve, 28,800 vph beat rate, and 25 jewels. These are manufacturer-published specifications, not a guarantee of the performance of any particular used watch. Accuracy, winding feel, and reserve depend on the movement’s condition and service history.

The launch release gives the watch a rating of 200 m / 20 bar. That is the documented rating for this reference; it should not be treated as a statement about a decades-old individual example’s present condition. For water exposure, a buyer should have a watchmaker assess seals and pressure-test the specific watch rather than relying on its original rating alone.
Keep it distinct from later Super KonTiki Date models
Later watches with similar names are not interchangeable with this limited edition. For example, a 2016 aBlogtoWatch review covers reference 1273.41.40.1718, described there as a 45 mm Super KonTiki Date with a Sellita SW200-1 movement and aluminum bezel insert. Those specifications belong to that later reference, not to 1973.41.41.1230. See the 2016 review of the different Super KonTiki Date for its own details.

What to verify before buying a used example
Current price, inventory, condition, and availability are not established by the published specifications above. Evaluate each listing as an individual watch, and confirm the following before treating it as a complete example of the limited edition:
- Reference: Verify that the watch is marked or documented as 1973.41.41.1230, rather than a later Super KonTiki Date.
- Edition and identity: Inspect the numbered solid caseback and compare the serial or edition marking with the seller’s description. The edition size is documented as 1,973, but this alone does not authenticate an individual listing.
- Movement and service: Ask for service records and have a qualified watchmaker assess operation if the history is unknown. The model’s original caliber specification does not establish the condition of a particular movement.
- Bracelet completeness: Check the Milanese bracelet, folding and safety clasps, and diving extension. Confirm that the bracelet is the correct one for the watch and fits the intended wrist.
- Condition and accessories: Review the case, bezel, crystal, and dial closely, and establish whether box and papers are included. Do not infer condition or value from the limited-edition number alone.
- Water use: Request a current pressure test if water resistance matters; the original 200 m rating is not a current test result.
For a price comparison, use recent, verifiable listings of the exact reference and account for condition, service documentation, bracelet completeness, and included accessories. No current market price is established here.
