The Formex Essence Ceramica COSC “Dark Matter” is a 41 mm automatic watch built around a dark-treated Muonionalusta meteorite dial, a zirconium oxide ceramic case and bracelet, and a Soprod Newton P092 movement that Formex says is COSC-certified. Formex listed the watch at CHF 4,150 and its product page reported it sold out when crawled; that listing is not confirmation of current availability.
What is the Formex Essence Ceramica Dark Matter?
“Dark Matter” is the name of the 41 mm version of Formex’s Essence Ceramica COSC, reference 0336.4.6091.410. Its defining feature is a solid Muonionalusta iron meteorite dial, darkened with nickel to bring out the naturally occurring Widmanstätten pattern. Formex says each dial’s crystalline structure is unique; the pattern will therefore vary from watch to watch. Formex’s product listing describes the dial as machined from a single, thicker component so its feet can be soldered directly to the meteorite rather than to a brass plate.
The case, bezel, and bracelet are zirconium oxide ceramic. Formex describes the components as receiving multiple finishing stages, including vertical brushing and polished bevels. The watch has sapphire crystals on the front and back, with anti-reflective treatment on the inside.

How does the movement and case suspension work?
Formex identifies the automatic caliber as the Soprod Newton P092, which it says was co-developed to its specifications beginning in 2023. The brand describes the movement as Chronofiable-tested at Laboratoire Dubois and then certified by COSC. According to Formex, COSC testing runs for 15 days in five positions and at three temperatures, and a movement must average between −4 and +6 seconds per day to pass. Those process details are the manufacturer’s account; no separate certificate or standards-body source is cited here.
The watch also uses Formex’s patented Case Suspension System. The manufacturer says four springs sit between the upper and lower case to absorb shocks and adapt to wrist movement. That explains the design’s stated purpose, not independently measured impact protection or a verified comfort result.

What does the bracelet offer?
The integrated ceramic bracelet repeats the case’s described brushed surfaces and polished bevels. Formex lists tool-free micro-adjustment over 5 mm in four 1.25 mm steps, intended to let the wearer adjust the fit on the fly. Links are removable with a pin-and-tube system, and the product listing says a tool is included.
Formex also lists optional rubber, nylon, and Italian leather straps with its quick-release system. The 22 mm lug width alone does not establish compatibility with ordinary straps: check the connector before choosing a non-Formex strap.

How much does the Dark Matter cost, and is it available?
Formex’s product listing showed CHF 4,150 and said the watch was completely sold out when crawled, with an option to subscribe for an availability notification. Because stock status changes, that page snapshot cannot establish whether a watch can be ordered now.
At launch, Monochrome and Fratello reported prices of CHF 4,150, €4,590, and US$4,920, and a production limit of 100 pieces per year. They reported that preorders opened on 9 December 2025, with first deliveries expected in January or mid-January 2026. Who is this watch for?
The Dark Matter’s appeal rests on a combination of materials and design choices: a naturally variable meteorite dial, ceramic across the case and bracelet, an integrated-bracelet format, and a maker-described suspension system and bracelet adjustment. The published 41 mm diameter, 11.2 mm thickness, and 46.2 mm lug-to-lug provide useful fit measurements, but they do not show how the watch wears on a particular wrist. Buyers weighing it against other watches should compare material construction, dial type, dimensions, movement credentials and reserve, adjustment and strap options, price, availability, warranty, and service support; the available information does not establish a specific competing model as a better choice.
