They are not simply the same watch in different cases. The Tangente neomatik is a 36 mm automatic, while the Ludwig range offers hand-wound 33 mm and 35 mm versions with distinct dial, hand and strap combinations. Prices also depend on the model and the regional NOMOS listing.
Which NOMOS watches are in gold?
The main focus is the Tangente gold neomatik and the Ludwig gold family. NOMOS’s gold collection extends beyond these models: the company also describes a 33 mm hand-wound Tangente gold and a Tangente Update with its NOMOS ring date. Those are separate versions, not the automatic neomatik discussed here. NOMOS says its gold watches are crafted from recycled gold; that is the manufacturer’s claim.

The central distinction is mechanical as well as stylistic: NOMOS lists the Tangente gold neomatik as automatic, while the Ludwig gold variants on its official page are hand-wound.
Tangente gold neomatik: the automatic option
The gold neomatik brings the angular Tangente case into precious metal while keeping the slim profile associated with the model. Monochrome Watches reports a 35 mm case measuring 6.9 mm thick, polished 18-karat 3N gold, sapphire crystals, 50 m water resistance and the automatic DUW 3001 caliber. Its reported movement specifications are a 3 Hz frequency and a 43-hour power reserve. NOMOS’s official descriptions distinguish dial and hand treatments across the neomatik offering, including blue hands, tone-on-tone doré (gold-colored) hands and a ruthenium dial variant. The wider offering should not be read as one universal configuration; check the reference and regional product page for the specific combination.
Ludwig gold: five hand-wound configurations
The Ludwig keeps its more traditional character with Roman numerals and a slim bezel. NOMOS offers the gold Ludwig in 33 mm and 35 mm sizes. On 35 mm variants, the minute track follows a traditional railway-style design; the 33 mm version has an open-style minute track.
- 33 mm: White silver-plated dial with gold hands.
- 35 mm: White silver-plated or enamel-white dial, paired with gold or temperature-blued hands, depending on version.
Straps follow the hand color: gold-hand models are paired with brown Horween Genuine Shell Cordovan, while blue-hand versions use black straps. All five Ludwig gold versions described on the official page are hand-wound.

Choose by movement and design as much as by size. The Tangente gold neomatik is the automatic choice, with a 36 mm model designation in NOMOS’s collection description; the 35 mm by 6.9 mm dimensions come from Monochrome’s launch report. Ludwig gold is the hand-wound family, with a smaller 33 mm option and 35 mm versions that vary in dial finish and hand color. The Ludwig’s Roman numerals and railway-style minute track make it visually more traditional than the Tangente’s angular design.
