The Toledano & Chan b/1.3r keeps the collection’s sculptural, asymmetrical silhouette but changes its character with a Grade 5 titanium case and bracelet and a ripple-pattern dial made from solid 18k gold. It is an unusually compact, time-only watch on paper; its distinctive shape, left-side crown and integrated bracelet make wrist fit and legibility as important to its appeal as the materials. There are also unresolved discrepancies in its published price and edition size, so those details are worth confirming before pursuing one.
A sculptural watch, not a conventional dress-watch update
Toledano & Chan’s B/1 collection takes its visual cues from the angular forms of 1970s watches and brutalist architecture. Hodinkee connects the original B/1’s sculptural case to Marcel Breuer’s Whitney Museum building. The b/1.3r carries that architectural language forward rather than introducing a new silhouette: the case and integrated bracelet remain deliberately asymmetrical, with sharp planes that make the watch look more like a small piece of sculpture than a familiar round watch.
That design intent is consistent with co-founder Phil Toledano’s description of the project. In Fratello’s 2024 introduction to the B/1, he said, “We fell in love with the idea of a sculptural watch.” He also described the initial ambition as designing something the founders themselves loved and hoped others would share. The b/1.3r is a material and dial variation on that idea, not a return to the conventional watch template.
What changes on the b/1.3r
The defining change is the combination of Grade 5 titanium and solid gold. The official product page lists Grade 5 titanium for the case, bracelet and crown, alongside an 18k solid-gold dial. Its rippled surface gives the dial texture and catches light differently from a flat, uniform surface; the asymmetrical sapphire crystal continues the case’s unconventional outline.

#1 Best Overall
- Case Size: 40.00 mm, Band Width: 21 mm, Case Thickness: 8.52 mm
- Swiss quartz movement, Titanium case, Index dial type, Date
- Titanium 21 mm strap/bracelet, butterfly clasp with push-buttons closure
- Water-resistant up to a pressure of 10 bar (100 m / 330 ft): suitable for short periods of recreational swimming and showering, but no diving or snorkeling.
The contrast is not simply precious metal versus industrial metal. Titanium keeps the case and bracelet from becoming the visual and physical equivalent of a solid-gold watch, while the gold dial puts the precious material at the center of the design. The result is a watch whose sculptural form is familiar within the B/1 family, but whose surface and material contrast give this version its own identity.
It should not be confused with the original B/1. The 904L steel case, lapis dial, Sellita SW200 movement and 175-piece production run belong to that predecessor, not to the b/1.3r.

Dimensions, movement and everyday specifications
Toledano & Chan’s product page names the movement as the Sellita SW100 and describes the watch as Swiss-made. Fratello’s January 26, 2026 hands-on report supplies the additional dimensions and operating specifications below; these figures are not all stated on the official product page.
| Specification | Published detail |
|---|---|
| Case diameter | 32 mm, reported by Fratello |
| Case length | 31.5 mm, reported by Fratello |
| Thickness | 9.1–10.4 mm, reported by Fratello |
| Movement | Sellita SW100; named on the official product page |
| Power reserve | Fratello’s article prose says 42 hours; its specification block says 41 hours |
| Water resistance | 5 ATM, reported by Fratello |
| Display | Hours and minutes only, reported by Fratello |
| Bracelet and clasp | Titanium bracelet with butterfly clasp, reported by Fratello |
The small diameter and length make the b/1.3r compact by its reported measurements, but those numbers cannot fully describe how it wears. Its asymmetrical case and integrated bracelet distribute the visual mass differently from a conventional round watch, and the unusual geometry is part of the point. Fratello’s Jorg Weppelink described his own hands-on experience as light and comfortable on wrist; that is one reviewer’s experience, not a guarantee of fit for every wrist.

Price, availability and edition size are not settled consistently
Published prices differ substantially. The official product page retrieved on October 8, 2026 lists US$6,300 for the US and US$5,700 internationally. Fratello’s January 2026 hands-on article and Time+Tide’s retailer listing give US$10,200, while Hodinkee’s January 27, 2026 launch article also reports US$10,200. These figures may reflect different listing contexts or changes, but the available sources do not explain the discrepancy. Confirm the price, currency, applicable taxes and availability directly with Toledano & Chan or the seller before making a decision.

The reported production quantity is also inconsistent: Fratello says 300 pieces, while Hodinkee reports 350. The brand’s product page calls it a “Limited Edition” without stating a number, so neither independent figure can be treated as definitively confirmed by the official listing. Hodinkee reported availability beginning February 12 at 9:00 a.m. Eastern; that launch date does not establish current stock.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. Is the Toledano & Chan b/1.3r worth seeking out?
Its strongest case is design specificity. The b/1.3r combines an architectural, asymmetrical form with a solid-gold ripple dial and lightweight titanium construction. Someone drawn to sculptural watches may find that more compelling than conventional luxury-watch cues or a long list of complications. Someone who prioritizes familiar proportions, an easily read dial, established fit expectations or a clearly documented price may want to handle it and verify the listing details before committing.

At the published prices, the purchase is difficult to evaluate as a specification-for-money comparison alone: the shape, finishing and gold dial are central to what is being bought, while the sources do not settle a single price or production count. The official product page is the brand’s listing, and Time+Tide identifies itself as an official dealer, but neither fact establishes current availability. This is a watch to assess in person if possible, particularly because the distinctive case and bracelet determine both its visual presence and how it sits on the wrist.
