Zenith’s Defy Skyline Skeleton Black Ceramic & Gold pairs a 41 mm black ceramic case with a gold-toned, openworked dial and the automatic El Primero 3620 SK. Announced on 19 January 2026, it displays the running tenth-second at six o’clock and is reported to launch at USD 18,900, EUR 19,100 or CHF 16,900. Those are launch-reported prices, not a guarantee of current local pricing or availability.
What is the Zenith Defy Skyline Skeleton Black Ceramic & Gold?
It is a 2026 addition to Zenith’s Defy Skyline collection, introduced at LVMH Watch Week in Milano on 19 January. Zenith’s announcement grouped it with other Defy releases, including a black ceramic Skyline Chronograph and a rose-gold Skyline Tourbillon Skeleton; those are separate watches with different materials and complications. Zenith’s launch announcement describes the Skyline’s design as an architectural interpretation of the line’s geometry. Benoît de Clerck, CEO of ZENITH WATCHES, called the watch “a metaphor for the city in miniature.”

Is the dial made of gold?
The sources describe the openworked dial and visible movement components as gold-toned; they do not establish that the dial is made from solid gold. The skeletonized design uses Zenith’s four-pointed star motif to frame the movement. Gold-plated, faceted hour markers and hands are reported to have Super-LumiNova SLN C1 coating. Zenith’s official product listing identifies the black ceramic model with a gold-toned open dial and the 3620SK movement.
How the tenth-second display works
The El Primero 3620 SK runs at 5 Hz, or 36,000 vibrations per hour. At six o’clock, a constant tenth-second indicator driven by that escapement completes one rotation every 10 seconds. This is a running display integrated into the movement, rather than a conventional seconds hand that takes a minute to circle the dial. The display caseback reveals a Zenith-star-shaped oscillating weight; Monochrome reports that it winds the barrel bidirectionally.
How this colorway differs from the black-dial ceramic version
Zenith’s official listing separately identifies a black-dial black-ceramic Defy Skyline Skeleton. The model in this first look is the gold-toned open-dial version, reference 49.9300.3620/07.I001. Match the reference and dial description when comparing listings: “black ceramic” alone does not distinguish the two colorways. The official listing and launch coverage establish the gold-toned dial and movement for this reference, but do not provide enough like-for-like information here to compare the other variant’s price or complete strap package.
