What is the Flieger Verus 40 Baumuster B?
It is STOWA’s modern interpretation of a Baumuster B pilot-watch design. The Baumuster B layout is characterized by a large outer minute scale and an inner hour ring, with the numerals arranged to make the two scales distinct. STOWA describes the model as based on the original design from 1942. That is the manufacturer’s account of the design reference, not evidence that the present Verus model itself dates to 1942.

The height figures come from different specific listings, so they describe those configurations rather than proving that every automatic version is thicker than every hand-wound one. The listed movement grades are configuration choices; the cited product information does not establish a performance advantage for one grade over another.
An automatic version suits someone who prefers not to wind the watch by hand as part of a regular routine. The SW 210 requires manual winding, which may appeal to a wearer who wants that interaction. Neither preference changes the watch’s Baumuster B design.

STOWA says many variants are available with an optional date window. The date changes the dial layout, so inspect the selected configuration rather than assuming every Baumuster B version has the same display. Availability may vary in the live configurator.

Pilot strap, bracelet, or Milanese
The manufacturer lists pilot strap, stainless-steel bracelet, and Milanese choices. The specified strap width is 20.0 mm. If shopping separately for a replacement or alternate strap, “20 mm watch strap” is a useful starting point, but confirm the attachment and buckle compatibility for the exact watch configuration before ordering.
