Its references vary in material, bezel, strap or bracelet, and date display; the SC39208 pairs a steel case with a ceramic bezel and FKM strap. ZRC rates that model to 300 metres and says it was tested up to 800 metres.
What the modern ZRC Securicode is
ZRC presents the Securicode as a tribute to the early Grands Fonds and to the history of its dive watches. The brand describes it as “A tribute to the very first Grands Fonds watch from 1959, the ZRC SECURICODE embodies the origin of a horological legend born from a tender issued by the French Navy.” That is the manufacturer’s account of the collection’s origins and institutional history, not an independent finding. ZRC’s Securicode collection page says the first version was tested by the French Navy’s G.R.S. between May and November 1961, then officially adopted and used by French Navy divers until 1966.
A 2024 launch report describes the Securicode as following the Grands Fonds and dates it to 1965. It characterizes the original idea as a central dial calculator for immersion times at different depths. A 2020 auction catalog, meanwhile, documents one circa-1963 example with a depth-graduation disc integrated with its large minute hand. These accounts refer to historical models and descriptions; they do not establish that every vintage Securicode had identical details. Monochrome Watches’ 2024 launch coverage calls the new collection “vintage-inspired,” a useful distinction from a faithful reproduction.
How the initial modern variants differ
The three models described at the October 2024 launch shared the Securicode design theme but differed in their materials and display. References below identify the corresponding initial variants; prices are launch prices reported by Monochrome Watches in 2024, not confirmed current prices.

| Reference | Case and bezel | Wearing option | Date | 2024 launch price | Availability note |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| SC39163 | Stainless steel case; steel bezel | Steel expansion bracelet | No date; time-only | CHF 2,490 (Monochrome Watches, 2024) | Initial model; current stock or scarcity not established |
| SC39208 | Stainless steel case; ceramic bezel insert | Rubber strap; ZRC specifies an FKM Tropic-style strap on its current product page | Date window | CHF 2,690 (Monochrome Watches, 2024) | Listed on ZRC’s current collection page; availability and live price can change |
| SC39463 | Bronze case; bezel material not stated in the cited launch report | Leather strap | Date window | CHF 3,290 (Monochrome Watches, 2024) | Monochrome reported the launch edition limited to 200 pieces |
The variant details and launch prices in this table come from Monochrome Watches’ 2024 report, except for the SC39208 strap wording, which follows ZRC’s current SC39208 product listing. The 200-piece figure describes the bronze launch edition as reported in 2024; it is not a statement about current availability. ZRC’s collection page also lists newer rubber-strap and Torch limited editions, so the initial trio is not the complete current assortment. Check ZRC’s live collection listing for current references and prices rather than treating launch pricing as current.
SC39208: the current steel-and-ceramic specification
ZRC specifies the Securicode Diver 300 SC39208 with a 39 mm stainless-steel case, ceramic bezel insert, and FKM Tropic-style strap. Its automatic Sellita SW200-1 movement is described by ZRC as “Elaborated,” with a 38-hour power reserve. The listed functions are hours, minutes, seconds, and date. Those are manufacturer specifications for this reference, not specifications that should be assumed for every Securicode.

ZRC rates the SC39208 to 300 metres and says it has been tested up to 800 metres. The distinction matters: 300 metres is the stated water-resistance rating, while 800 metres is the manufacturer’s stated test depth. Neither figure should be read as advice to expose a watch to those depths in ordinary use. Consult ZRC’s product information and care guidance for operating limits. See ZRC’s SC39208 specification page.
What the vintage example tells us—and what it does not
The Gros & Delettrez auction catalog describes a single circa-1963 Sécuricode as a 35.5 mm automatic steel watch, with a depth-graduation disc integrated into the large minute hand and a Felsa 4000 base movement. This is a catalog description of one example, not a universal specification for all vintage watches bearing the name; vintage configurations and catalog identifications can vary. That example’s integrated depth/time display is a more specific historical feature than a general vintage styling cue. The modern SC39208’s published functions are conventional hours, minutes, seconds, and date, and ZRC’s current specification does not describe the vintage disc-and-minute-hand arrangement. The available evidence therefore supports describing the present collection as a heritage-inspired modern dive watch, not as an identical reconstruction of the circa-1963 example.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Who should consider the modern Securicode?
The SC39208 is the clearest current reference to consider if you want the steel-and-ceramic configuration with a date, a rubber strap, and manufacturer-published movement and water-resistance specifications. The initial SC39163 is the time-only steel-and-expansion-bracelet alternative, while the bronze SC39463 offers a different case material and leather strap; current availability for those launch variants should be checked with ZRC or a retailer. The practical distinction is less “modern watch versus exact vintage copy” than which material and wearing configuration suits you—and whether the specific historical display is essential to your interest.
