To make a Google Fitbit Edge last longer between charges, turn off Always-On Display first, then reduce screen activity and use GPS only when needed. Google estimates up to seven days with its stated test setup, versus up to two days with Always-On Display enabled; these are manufacturer maximums, not a promise of typical use.
How long does the Fitbit Edge battery last?
Google says the Fitbit Edge offers up to seven days of battery life. Its support page says enabling Always-On Display (AOD) reduces that estimate to up to two days. Both figures are approximate maximums, and your results may be lower depending on settings, use, environment and other factors. Google’s Edge setup guide gives the AOD comparison.

Google says the seven-day estimate is based on California testing in 2026 using pre-production hardware and software, default settings, and a median Edge-user battery profile with a mix of features default in Battery Saver mode. The figure is not an independent test result. Google’s launch announcement provides further detail on the test conditions.

Turn off Always-On Display
If time between charges matters more than keeping the watch face continuously visible, disable AOD. Google’s stated maximum falls from up to seven days to up to two days when AOD is enabled, making it the clearest quantified battery tradeoff for the Edge. You will need to wake the display to check it.

Reduce screen activity
In the Google Health app, open the Fitbit Edge device settings and review Display settings. Adjust Screen Wake and Screen timeout to avoid unnecessary screen use. You can also lower brightness if the display remains easy to read. To change brightness on the watch, swipe down from the watch face to Quick Settings and adjust the brightness control.
Google’s general Fitbit guidance identifies frequent screen activation and bright display use as possible sources of extra battery drain, but it does not quantify how much these changes add on the Edge. Google’s broader battery guidance also suggests using auto brightness where available.

Use GPS only when you need it
Review GPS Settings in the Edge device settings in the Google Health app, and avoid GPS features when they are not useful for what you are doing. GPS can mean more frequent charging across Fitbit devices, according to Google’s general guidance, but Google does not publish an Edge-specific runtime penalty. Disabling or limiting GPS also means giving up the relevant GPS function while it is unavailable.

These are general Fitbit recommendations, not a guarantee of a specific improvement on the Edge. Confirm feature availability and controls in the Edge’s settings; Google’s broad help page does not establish an Edge-specific path for every item.
Does fast charging improve battery life?
No. Charging speed is separate from how long a charge lasts. Google says five minutes of charging can provide a full day of use under its launch-test conditions: the Edge was fully drained and powered on, using the in-box USB-C cable and a 30W adapter sold separately. Charging may be slower in practice and can vary with battery age and temperature. This claim does not mean the battery will last longer between charges.

What if battery life suddenly gets worse?
First check whether AOD, GPS, screen activity or optional features have changed, then review the display and GPS settings described above. Runtime by itself does not establish that the battery has failed. If the change persists after you have checked your settings, use Google’s Edge support resources or contact Google support; its general battery guidance recommends support when troubleshooting has not helped.
Can the Fitbit Edge battery be replaced?
Google describes the Edge battery as user-replaceable, but repair options depend on region and availability. Google does not recommend self-service repair unless the adult doing it has the technical expertise to repair electronics safely. Check Google’s Edge product page and regional Google repair guidance for current options in your country.
