Which one should you choose?
Choose Fitbit Edge if you want workout information on your wrist
Edge’s display supports glanceable workout views, along with tiles and watch faces. That makes it the more natural fit if you want to see information without reaching for your phone. Google also lists built-in GPS and more than 50 exercise modes, but those specifications do not establish real-world GPS or activity-tracking accuracy.

Choose Fitbit Air if you want a screenless tracker
Air is the simpler option for someone who would rather wear a band without a display. Google’s October 12, 2026 announcement also describes a Metal Mesh band in Champagne Gold or Polished Silver, and an Obsidian Air bundle with the Champagne Gold band. Confirm current stock and compatible accessories before buying.

Google describes Edge as sitting between Pixel Watch and Air: it adds a screen and more visible workout features, while Air keeps the screen-free band experience. The decision is about the experience you prefer, not a proven overall-performance ranking.

Edge features and trade-offs
Google says Edge has a Hybrid OLED display, water resistance up to 50 meters, fast charging, and a replaceable battery in a repairable tracker design. Google also claims the display has 46% more viewing area than previous trackers; that is the company’s comparison, not an independently verified measurement.
Google advertises up to seven days of battery life. Treat this as a maximum claim rather than a promise for every routine; the product information does not provide a direct, same-conditions battery comparison with Air.

Recommended Free Tools
Google says an Edge purchase includes three months of Google Health Premium, subject to the offer’s terms. Coaching built with Gemini is described as included with a Premium membership; do not assume that all coaching or Health Guardian features remain included after any introductory offer.

Health features are wellness tools, not medical care
Google says Health Guardian features, including blood-pressure trends and insulin-resistance trends, are rolling out to Air and Edge for Google Health Premium users. The company says these products are not intended for medical purposes, and that the features do not diagnose, mitigate, treat, or cure disease. Google also says they are not a diabetes prescreener or a real-time glucose monitor. Do not use tracker trends as a substitute for medical advice.
Google Health connections and availability
Google announced planned or expanded connections with Flo Health, Abbott Lingo, MyFitnessPal, and Function Health. Rollout timing and geography vary by partner; Google describes the Abbott Lingo connection for U.S. users. These integrations may matter if you use those services, but they do not establish a technical advantage for either tracker.

What the available comparison does not establish
Google’s announcements provide product positioning and specifications, not an independent head-to-head test. They do not establish whether Edge or Air delivers more accurate GPS, activity recognition, health measurements, or longer battery life under matched use. Base your choice on the screen, features, and requirements that fit your routine rather than treating advertised specifications as proof of superior performance.
