Choose settings based on what you want most from Fitbit Edge: longer battery life, fewer interruptions, or a screen and workout experience that suits you. Edge is scheduled to reach shelves on October 27, 2026; as of October 12, 2026, Google’s launch information does not establish the exact setting names or menu paths on retail devices. Use the priorities below as a checklist, then confirm available controls in Edge’s own interface and current Google Health help.
Before changing settings, finish setup
Google says Fitbit Edge pairs with the Google Health app and requires a Google Account. The US Google Store listing specifies Android 11.0 or newer or iOS 16.4 or newer. Check the requirements for your region and phone before trying to configure the tracker: Google Store Fitbit Edge listing and FAQ.

Edge is announced but not yet available at the date of this article. Google’s product claims therefore describe the announced device, not independently tested retail firmware. Exact controls may be clearer once Edge-specific support documentation and retail devices are available.

1. Battery life: reduce features you do not need
If battery runtime is your priority, start by reviewing which features you actually use and disable or reduce only those you do not need, if Edge offers the relevant controls. Google says battery life depends on enabled features, usage, environment and other factors, but does not quantify the effect of individual Edge settings. Avoid assuming a particular toggle will save a specific amount.

- Long battery life: Google Fitbit Air’s battery lasts up to a week, and fast charging gets you one day of battery life in just five minutes[6,7]
Google advertises up to seven days of battery life. That is an approximate manufacturer figure based on California testing in 2026 with pre-production hardware and software, default settings, a median Edge user profile, and a mix of features default in Battery Saver mode. Google says actual life may be lower. The estimate is not a guarantee for every person or configuration. Details appear in Google’s Fitbit Edge announcement.
2. Quiet time: check Edge’s own notification controls
If you want fewer interruptions, look in Edge’s current settings interface for notification and sleep or do-not-disturb controls. Their names, availability, scheduling behavior and location have not been confirmed for Edge. Google’s general Fitbit navigation guide covers multiple models, so its instructions should not be treated as proof that a particular control exists on Edge: Google Health Help Center navigation guide.

Choose a face or workout view that makes the information you care about easiest to see, if those choices are available on your device. The exact customization steps and controls have not been documented in the launch material.

Google says Edge’s exercise app can track more than 50 exercise modes. That is a manufacturer-published product claim, not an independent test result. Choose the modes you expect to use rather than assuming every activity or feature is available in every region or configuration.

4. Health tracking: enable only what you intend to use
Review the health features offered on your Edge and turn on only those you want to use. Google describes on-wrist health metrics and cycle and symptom tracking, while noting that features and availability can vary. Google also says the device is not intended for medical purposes; do not use its readings as a substitute for medical advice or diagnosis.
5. Data preferences: review privacy controls in Google Health
Google’s Store listing says privacy settings are available. Review the current privacy controls in Google Health and decide what data you want to share or retain. The listing does not specify a particular Edge-only privacy toggle, so confirm settings in your account rather than assuming a named control is present on the tracker.

What is confirmed—and what still needs Edge-specific instructions?
Google describes Edge as repairable, with a replaceable battery, and says interchangeable bands are sold separately. Its announcement lists 5 ATM water protection under ISO 22810:2010 and IP68 under IEC 60529 when the device leaves the factory, while cautioning that it is not waterproof or dust proof. These product details do not establish additional settings or menu paths.
