What is the Fossil Stormtrooper watch?
It is an officially licensed Fossil and Star Wars collaboration watch from the Empire-themed second release, announced by Fossil Group on May 26, 2023, to mark the 40th anniversary of Return of the Jedi. Fossil scheduled the collection’s global launch for May 30, 2023. The Stormtrooper was one of four limited-edition watches in that release, which followed a Rebellion-themed collection launched on May 4.
The model’s central contrast is between a clean white exterior inspired by Stormtrooper armor and a graphic, nontraditional display. It is better understood as a themed collectible with an automatic movement than as a conventional, specification-led everyday watch.
How does the dial tell time?
Fossil Japan describes disc-style indications for the hours, seconds, and 24-hour display. In the aBlogtoWatch review, the hour and day-night indication and the seconds are shown in separate disc windows, while a blaster-bolt-inspired minute hand moves around the dial. A large Stormtrooper helmet motif dominates the face.

The review also notes luminous indications and Aurebesh numerals on the minute track. That distinctive layout gives the watch much of its character, but it is less immediately familiar than a standard layout with central hour and minute hands. A buyer who prioritizes quick, conventional time reading should consider that trade-off before choosing it.
Case, bracelet and wearing impressions
Fossil specifies a white resin-coated stainless-steel case and bracelet. The independent aBlogtoWatch review reports a 43 mm case and an integrated bracelet, as well as a black crown. The coating supplies the bright, armor-like finish; it is not a solid-white metal case.
The reviewer describes the full-white appearance as visually light despite the watch’s generous proportions and says it felt comfortable on the wrist. Those are that reviewer’s impressions, not a guarantee of fit: wrist shape, bracelet sizing and personal preference all matter. The 43 mm diameter is a useful reference, but it does not by itself describe how the integrated bracelet and case will sit on every wrist.

The same review cautions that the resin coating may chip and says the watch is not a tough tool watch. That is a reviewer’s durability assessment, not an official Fossil warranty statement or care instruction.
Movement and water resistance
Fossil calls the movement Japanese automatic. The official product materials cited here do not name a caliber or specify power reserve or accuracy. The aBlogtoWatch reviewer characterizes it as a standard automatic movement but likewise does not identify a caliber or provide instrumented timing results. There is therefore no supported basis here for claims about a particular movement maker or measured timekeeping performance.
The aBlogtoWatch review reports 50-meter water resistance. It advises caution around chlorinated or salt water because of possible effects on the resin coating, while acknowledging uncertainty about those effects. Treat that as reviewer guidance rather than a manufacturer guarantee or a formal Fossil care rule.

Limited-edition quantity and collector packaging
Fossil says each watch is individually numbered and supplied in a collector’s box with cinematic sound effects, comic-book-style illustrations and a replica movie-ticket pin. The aBlogtoWatch review reports a production run of 1,483 pieces; that quantity comes from the review, not the official Fossil release described here.
The reviewer also describes a decorative caseback, an engraved exterior plate, a pin styled after a 1983 movie ticket and an on-demand sound effect. The audible line is “Freeze! Don’t Move!” These extras reinforce the watch’s appeal as a Star Wars collectible, though they do not change its timekeeping specifications.

2023 launch prices and current availability
The launch prices were market-specific: Fossil Group listed the Stormtrooper at $370 in the United States, while Fossil Japan listed ¥61,050 including tax in Japan. These are historical 2023 launch prices, not current retail offers or evidence of present resale value. They should not be converted into one another as though they represented the same market price.

Fossil’s 2023 release said the collection would be sold through Fossil.com and selected Fossil stores beginning May 30. A Fossil Canada Star Wars collection page accessed October 7, 2026, provides wider collection context but does not confirm that this exact model is in stock. Current availability, seller authenticity and resale pricing are not established here, so check a retailer’s live listing and seller details before purchasing.

The Stormtrooper Automatic makes the most sense for a Star Wars collector who wants a conspicuous character design, an automatic movement and presentation-box details. It is less compelling for someone choosing primarily on movement transparency, conventional dial legibility or a proven hard-wearing finish.
