The Franck Muller Vanguard Glacier is a time-and-date model family, but available listings describe more than one configuration. The clearest examples share a listed 45 mm case; dial, finish, strap, and movement details differ, so they should not be combined into a single specification sheet. No verified first-person hands-on account is available here.
What “Vanguard Glacier” refers to
Secondary-market listings identify the Glacier as a time-and-date Vanguard. Two useful identifiers are V45 SC DT AC GL and the longer V45SCDTGLACIERACGLABC(GLABLCGLABR). The references appear on separate listings, and their exact mapping to Franck Muller’s manufacturer nomenclature has not been confirmed. Treat each as a listing-specific configuration rather than interchangeable shorthand.
A 2019 aBlogtoWatch article covers the Vanguard Racing V 45 SC DT, not a Glacier hands-on. Its search excerpt describes Glacier as an earlier time-and-date-only Vanguard, which offers limited historical context but does not establish the details or wearing impressions of the Glacier itself. A further marketplace model page for V 45 SC DT GLACIER BC AC reports a 45 mm PVD-steel case, FM2800 automatic movement, 21 jewels, date, 30 m water resistance, and a 2005 release. It would therefore be misleading to present subjective handling impressions as firsthand observations or to attribute them to that article’s author.
The shared 45 mm listing size gives a useful point of reference, but it does not establish that every watch sold as a Glacier has identical dimensions. The tonneau shape and differing listed configurations are relevant when comparing a particular example; confirm the exact reference and measurements with the seller before treating one listing as a match for another.

How to evaluate a specific example
- Match the reference. Compare the watch and paperwork with the exact listing reference; do not infer that a similar-looking Glacier has the same finish, dial, strap, or movement.
- Verify the specification. Ask for clear photographs of the dial, case, caseback, clasp, and any reference or serial markings. Request confirmation of movement, service history, and included documentation from the seller.
- Check condition and authenticity independently. Marketplace descriptions are not manufacturer authentication. For a high-value pre-owned purchase, use a reputable watch specialist or authentication service and confirm the seller’s return and inspection terms.
- Interpret water resistance cautiously. The 30 m figure is reported for the AC GL listing and the lower-confidence model page, not established here for every Glacier configuration. For any specific watch, have its condition and seals assessed before relying on water resistance.
Why old listing prices are not current valuations
One listing for the grey-dial reference shows a USD 7,000 price last seen on 2025-04-03 and identifies Jomashop as its listing source. That is historical listing data, not a current quote, completed-sale price, or valuation.
