Nacho, RJ, and Thomas each chose three watches; Fratello’s article previews one selection from each: the Sinn 613 St UTC, Grand Seiko Tokyo Lion Tentagraph, and Jaeger-LeCoultre Polaris Chronograph. The article does not name the other six.
What Fratello’s 2025 chronograph picks represent
The selections cover watches released during 2025 up to the episode’s publication, rather than a final year-end assessment. Fratello describes the episode as a discussion of the “best chronographs of 2025 (so far)” and invites readers to share their own favorites. It is an editorial conversation, not a controlled comparison or universal ranking.
The Fratello article is dated August 7, 2025; the YouTube episode listing displays August 6, 2025. The sources do not explain the one-day difference. Fratello’s playful subheading asks, “Because how else are you supposed to time your perfectly al dente pasta?”
The three selections Fratello previews
| Fratello host | Previewed selection | What the available details establish |
|---|---|---|
| Thomas | Jaeger-LeCoultre Polaris Chronograph, Ocean Grey | 42 mm steel automatic chronograph; Calibre 761; 65-hour power reserve. |
| RJ | Grand Seiko Tokyo Lion Tentagraph, SLGC009 | 43.0 mm Brilliant Hard Titanium case, 15.6 mm thick, with a 72-hour power reserve. |
| Nacho | Sinn 613 St UTC | Fratello describes it as combining UTC/GMT and chronograph functions; the cited article does not provide a full specification. |
These watches are not directly interchangeable: the published specifications differ in detail, and the source material does not establish a complete specification for the Sinn. Fratello does not identify the remaining six selections, so they cannot be reliably reconstructed from this preview.

Thomas’s pick: Jaeger-LeCoultre Polaris Chronograph Ocean Grey
Fratello names the Polaris Chronograph as Thomas’s previewed choice, introduced at Watches and Wonders earlier in 2025. Jaeger-LeCoultre’s June 16, 2025 press release identifies the Ocean Grey as a 2025 addition to the collection. Its reference is Q9028651.
Case, movement, and chronograph
Jaeger-LeCoultre lists a 42 mm steel case and automatic Calibre 761, with a 65-hour power reserve. The chronograph has a 30-minute counter and central seconds, alongside a tachymeter scale. The manufacturer describes the movement as an integrated column-wheel chronograph with a vertical clutch; that is the brand’s design description, not an independent performance assessment.
Dial and straps
The manufacturer describes the Ocean Grey dial as having a layered lacquer finish and says the watch comes with two interchangeable straps. Together, the technical chronograph layout and dressier Polaris styling make this Fratello pick a distinct proposition from the more overtly sport-focused Grand Seiko.

RJ’s pick: Grand Seiko Tokyo Lion Tentagraph
Fratello describes RJ’s selection as a lion-inspired chronograph introduced at Watches and Wonders. Grand Seiko’s April 1, 2025 release identifies it as reference SLGC009 and says it was to become available at Grand Seiko boutiques starting in August 2025.
Case and chronograph layout
Grand Seiko specifies a 43.0 mm Brilliant Hard Titanium case with a thickness of 15.6 mm. The chronograph includes 30-minute and 12-hour counters. The case is larger and thicker than the Polaris dimensions stated by its maker, although the available descriptions do not give a directly comparable thickness for the JLC.
Power reserve and accuracy claims
The manufacturer lists a 72-hour power reserve. Grand Seiko says the movement is tested for 20 days and is intended to meet its stated +5 to -3 seconds-per-day standard with the chronograph running. Those figures describe Grand Seiko’s testing and standard, not independent test results.

Historical European price
Grand Seiko stated a European recommended retail price of €17,500 in its April 1, 2025 release. This is a dated launch-era figure, not a verified current price.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Nacho’s pick: Sinn 613 St UTC
Fratello characterizes the Sinn 613 St UTC as combining UTC/GMT and chronograph functions and comments on its busy dial. The cited article does not establish its full technical specifications, exact configuration details, or current availability. Without those details, it is not possible to make a reliable specification-by-specification comparison with the JLC and Grand Seiko.
How to read the comparison
- For a detailed, manufacturer-specified chronograph: Jaeger-LeCoultre provides the case size, movement, counter, tachymeter, power reserve, dial finish, and strap details for the Ocean Grey.
- For a titanium case and longer stated reserve: Grand Seiko specifies Brilliant Hard Titanium, 43.0 mm diameter, 15.6 mm thickness, and a 72-hour reserve for SLGC009.
- For a chronograph with an additional time-zone function: Fratello’s description makes the Sinn’s UTC/GMT element the distinguishing point among these three, but the available description is not enough to assess its full specification or practical execution.
The documented differences are useful for understanding why the three might appeal to different enthusiasts, but they do not amount to a test of accuracy, legibility, comfort, or value. Apart from the historical Grand Seiko European RRP, no current prices are established here.
