What the Independence Skeleton Chrono is
NORQAIN introduced the Independence Skeleton Chrono in 2024 as the first chronograph in the Independence collection, according to the brand’s launch video. Skeletonization is the defining visual feature: the openworked dial makes the movement’s components part of the watch’s face rather than hiding them behind a conventional dial. It combines that display with an automatic chronograph and a flyback function.
The current NORQAIN collection page lists the model family in 42mm steel and titanium versions. The page’s current listings are a snapshot accessed October 7, 2026; they are not a guarantee of future pricing or stock.
How the 8K movement is described
NORQAIN calls the movement the “8K Manufacture Calibre.” That is the brand’s designation, not evidence that NORQAIN manufactures the calibre itself: Fratello’s September 12, 2024 launch report says the movement was designed by NORQAIN and manufactured by Sellita’s AMT group. Fratello and NORQAIN’s launch video describe it as an automatic, column-wheel flyback chronograph with a 62-hour power reserve. Fratello also reports chronometer certification.

The flyback function lets the wearer reset and restart the chronograph in one continuous action, rather than stopping, resetting, and starting it through separate presses. The launch-model layout includes central chronograph seconds and a 30-minute counter, as well as running seconds, according to Fratello.
Launch-model dimensions and construction
Fratello’s 2024 launch specifications give the original models a 41.8mm case diameter, 49.8mm lug-to-lug length, and 13.9mm thickness, with 100m water resistance. The report also lists a sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating and a sapphire display back. These figures describe the launch models; NORQAIN’s current collection listing does not repeat a full technical sheet for every later color and material reference, so check the specific reference before treating them as universal.

How the lineup developed
The 2024 launch releases
Fratello’s September 2024 launch coverage describes an initial DLC-coated Grade 5 titanium model limited to 300 pieces and a steel model planned in two batches of 300. It reported launch prices of €6,450 for titanium, €5,950 for steel on a bracelet, and €5,700 for steel on rubber. These are historical launch prices and edition plans, not current prices or a complete description of today’s listings.
The later jade and purple titanium versions
NORQAIN’s March 2025 video presents jade and purple 42mm titanium versions and states that the jade model is limited to 500 pieces. That 500-piece figure belongs to the later jade release; it should not be confused with the 300-piece DLC-coated titanium model described in the 2024 launch report.

- Material and color: The listings and later releases cover steel and titanium, with black, orange, purple, and jade executions. Decide whether the lighter titanium or the steel options better suit your preference, then verify the exact reference.
- Strap or bracelet: The official listing shows rubber and steel options for the two steel references, while the purple titanium listing is shown on purple Milanaise-pattern rubber. Confirm the configuration attached to the particular reference you are considering.
- Fit: The reported 41.8mm diameter, 49.8mm lug-to-lug, and 13.9mm thickness are launch-model measurements, useful as context but not a substitute for checking the dimensions of a later reference.
- Movement features: The standout technical combination in launch coverage is an automatic flyback chronograph, column wheel, 30-minute register, chronometer certification, and 62-hour reserve.
- Price and availability: Compare the exact reference and the price in your market. The current CHF listings differ from the euro launch prices, and the official page’s stock labels are time-sensitive.
Warranty and service
Fratello’s 2024 specification table states a four-year warranty, with the possibility of an additional year by joining NORQAIN’s online community. Because the official collection page consulted for the current listings does not restate those terms, verify the warranty duration and eligibility conditions with NORQAIN or an authorized retailer before buying.
